New Home for a Hamster

We just got our daughters this hamster three months ago. We found out last week that my youngest is allergic to him and that is why she has been sick for the past three months. I have to find a new home for him but have no idea where to go. The pet store won't take him back. Any ideas on where to advertise him and his stuff? I don't want any money, just a good home. Thank you for your help in advance. This is really hard on my daughter and it is only getting worse every day he is still here.

What can I do next?

Post him on Craigs List. I had an iguana that I wanted to get rid of and I found a person who loves reptiles within three hours. They even picked him up from my house. If you are not familiar with Craigs List, it is basically online classified ads. Here is the site for the DC metro area: http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/

Hi P.! If you haven't found a home for your hamster by the time the holidays are over please email me (____@____.com) We got a hamster for my daughter for her birthday in August and just last week it died. It was fine one day and dying the next. I felt so sad for the hamster and for my daughter. We haven't really thought about getting her another one, but she loved it so much. We are traveling here and there until after New Years, but we'd consider taking this one off your hands after that. Oh, one question - is it a nice hamster? My girls took theirs out of the cage constantly and played with her - she was really good with them, and only bit if they poked their fingers into her cage and she felt cornered. Let me know!

If craigslist doesn't work, also try www.freecycle.org - It's great! You can get rid of all sorts of no longer used stuff (and rodents) and give it to a good home. You can also pick up a few things you might need for free.
