New in Town and Need Good Pediatrician and Hospital, Any Advice?

I'm looking for a good pediatrician and hospital. My family is generally healthy and we prefer not to take medication unless we have to. I want a doctor that is willing to work with us and not just whip out a prescription and send us on our way. I have 3 kids with the youngest entering kindergarten so she need shots soon.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the wonderful advice. We chose Dr. Bain and made an appointment. We actually saw the nurse practitioner the day we went and were very pleased. Friendly staff and answered all our questions. I'm confident we made the right decision.

We love our pediatrician! His name is Christopher Newton with Centennial Pediatrics. He is in Frisco at Centennial Medical Center (he also has privileges at Baylor Frisco and I think Presby Plano). He has never been quick to seek unnecessary treatment...he tried everything else before referring us to an ENT to have my then 21 month old's tonsils and adenoids removed. We absolutely love him - and I am not one quick to put my kids on antibiotics either. Give him a call at ###-###-####.

Dr. Vernier, McKinney Pediatrics. I feel the same way about meds. My son is nearly 4 and has been given an antibiotic once. He is also very healthy.

I'm wondering why you want a pediatrician? If your kiddos are "normal" then you should go to a Family Practice Doc. I would think your older kidz are feeling a bit out of place at a Pediatricians office. You should transfer now and you won't need to change later. Plus the entire family can go to one office. If you don't pressure a doc to give you meds, usually they won't unless you need them. A good doc won't prescribe over the phone either!
Depending on where you live, I prefer Presby Allen for hospital. Methodist hosp is coming to Stonebridge and they have a stellar rep!

We use Jay Schwartz at Collin County Pediatrics (Coit and 121 in Frisco). He has been our pediatrician for almost 6 years. He is great with the kids, and doesn't just write scripts on a whim. That is one of the things we love about him. We know that if he does write a script, then they really need to take it. Otherwise, he will suggest an OTC med or let the kids immune system get to work.

We like his office staff, as well.

P.,
I live in McKinney and drive to Frisco to see Dr. Bain at Healthy Kids Pediatrics....she is a God-send, truly. I love her integration of natural/nutritional advice in her practice to avoid antibiotics and other issues....can't say enough good about this doctor and the practice she has built.

I've been very pleased with our pediatrician in Denton. The first thing that I noticed about her is that she sits down and talks to me about whatever we came in for. She spends as much time as she needs to, so we don't feel rushed. She is not over booked, like a lot of doctors. She's very thorough and finds out what the problem is, doesn't just treat symptoms. She also doesn't waste any time when you need a referral. When my daughter broke her arm, the pediatrician had a referral and an appointment set up for us to see the orthopedic doctor before we had even left the hospital.

In my experience, she is very down to earth, and not so quick to pump them up with meds. We don't vaccinate, and she will still see us, unlike many doctors. Overall, I have been very impressed.

The place is:
