I am looking for a pediatrician... a friend recommened East Valley Pediatrics... and we visited them today... but I prefer a smaller practice with a more personal feel. If anyone knows of a great doctor that is "vaccine-flexible," I would love to hear from you! Thanks so much!

I know you mentioned you wanted a smaller office feel, but we absolutely love our peditrician's office. There are several doctors there, but we have always been able to get in with the same one for all 3 of our children. I highly recommend Dr. Nania at TLC Pediatrics! She was referred to me by a friend when we grew dissatisfied with our old pediatrician. Let me know if you would like their number.

I see someone already suggested this group...which is great!
We go to TLC Pediatrics and I love them! They have 4 doctors in the practice and you can get in to see whichever one you want the same day. They are very through and really listen to what you have to say. I have never felt rushed or like I wasn't wanted...even when I bring my kids in for little things. I don't know how they feel about being "vaccine-flexible", but it would be worth talking to them about it. Here is a link to their website for more informtion:

We typically see Dr. Matsumoto or Dr. Miller, but I have seen them all and really like them all!
Good luck!

I know you said you visited East Valley Pediatrics, but you didn't say which location. (I've been to the Mesa location once and didn't like it very much) I've been taking my daughter (3.5 yrs) and now my son (1yr) to Dr Hall w/ East Valley Pediatrics since birth. I love her and feel she really takes her time and gets to know my kids. She was at the Baseline/Val Vista location but moved to the location in Gilbert on Power road. I live right near the Baseline/VV location, but love Dr Hall so much that I make the drive to stay with her. At the location she is at there are 2 female dr's and 1 nurse practitioner.
Dr Hall is flexible about the timing of vaccines (we have only given 1 at a time to my son, spreading them out), but she's not a dr that supports skipping vaccines.
It sounds like you've gotten other great suggestions so I'm sure you'll find a ped. that works well for you and your kids---best of luck!

We love our pediatrician!! We have been there for the past four years and we have always seen only our doctor. We go to Palo Verde Pediatrics on ValVista and Elliot. We see Dr. Chang specifically and really like him a lot. I do not know about the flexibility on vaccines, but I do know that they offered me an alternative schedule for my daughter when she was younger, as she had a reaction to one of her vaccines. She is still one vaccine behind, but will be caught up by the time she starts kindergarten. Their office number is ###-###-####. I love that they can always get me in on the same day and since we haven't had insurance they have let me make payments for my visits. I am sure that is because we are established patients, but it makes me feel like they care about us!!!

All about Kids is in Tempe off the 60 and Rural, they have two docs, Shoptaugh and Jones and I like them both. My son has seen Shoptaugh since he was less than one year old. I don't think she has a "flexible vaccine" schedule, but she does all the vaccines on the later end of the schedule (i.e. if the vaccine should be given between 9-12 months she would wait until 12).

Hi S.,
I've been taking my boys to Dr Amy Shoptaugh @ All About Kids Pediatrics since she left the group she was with many years ago. There are 2 docs there, but we've always gotten in to see her - and I LOVE that she focuses very much on the child. It's a smaller practice, not like a big group center. They are in Tempe on Rural & the 60. ###-###-####

I don't know about her vac schedule, I just did them when it was required.

Hi S.!

Welcome to the east valley! I am in Queen Creek and take my 19 month old twins to JJ Pediatrics. It is a private practice by Dr. Harkl and he is wonderful! He is so patient and explains everything in great detail. We are first time parents and we had so many questions, he never ever made us feel rushed nor have we ever waited in the waiting room for ever. His staff is very warm and friendly and funny!
Their number is ###-###-####.

Good luck and welcome. If you ever need anything, here is my cell - ###-###-####, it can be hard to find stuff when you're new :)
