Two of my New Years Resolutions are to "lose weight" and "get more organized” I know A LOT of women have the same types of resolutions. I really want to get serious about it this year and I keep reading that the best way to succeed at keeping resolutions is by teaming up. I am seeking an individual or group willing to motivate, inspire and create accountability for achieving these goals. I'm thinking this will be done by email only, but I wouldn't be opposed to once a month meetings at a coffee shop or something. I’m also thinking of having either 2 separate groups for these two separate issues OR having one group that focuses on general self improvement. Ideas, comments, suggestions…..
Did you ever find a resolution pal?
Perhaps you can tell by the delay in my response that I've been a procrastinator on this one, but I really feel like I need to do something for ME that makes me feel better about me.
Anyway, if you're still looking for a buddy, let me know what you have in mind.

i just want to warn you to NOT join curves if your goal is to lose weight. you may have read my posting several months ago with the subject name "curves schmurves". it was the worst investment i have ever made and i wasted an entire year of my life there trying to get fit. i lost 4 pounds and a lot of money. and i even went 2 days more per week than they suggest. i could go on and on...i just want to get the word out there about curves. it may be a good place for obese and elderly women to gain flexibility..but not a good place for anyone to lose more than a few pounds.

If anyone is available to do so I belong to Sawmill Athletic Club if you would like to join and team up with a workout buddy I would be more than happy to help. They have childcare available all day. They have classes(most are free), swimming and many other things. Feel free to email me if anyone is interested. A word about cost: It is less expensive than the YMCA (for me) because the Y charges by the hour and SAC charges $12 per month for childcare and they can stay 1-2 hours per day.

I think this is a great idea. I'm horrible with stickign to my resolutions each year but I'm going to try hard in 07! I was in an accident in April where my back was broken. My entire life has changed and in that process... and my lack of full mobility, I have gained weight. I am up for spinal surgery later this year and I have to lose weight before that happens. I also have to tone up a bit more. My mobility is limited so excercise in the traditional sence is not something I can do but I'm doing my best! Simple streaches and walking are my mode for now. If anyone is in the Cedarville area and interested in some local support let me know! It's my goal to get back to dancing, running, and just plain normal living by the end of this year. It would be great to have others with me along the way!

Hi
Here is some groups who can help you get more organized
I love Flylady. She has helped me get organized. I no longer even forget appointments. Or at least not as many.
The ONLY thing that's ever helped me get motivated and stay motivated for organization is FLYlady www.flylady.net She has a few books out but I haven't read them -- I only subscribe to her free email list.
Nothing I could say about them would do them justice. It's just something you have to commit to do for a month. And then you're HOOKED. Cleaning house becomes a happy addiction, and you don't have to clean all day.
Even if you don't dive right in and do everything, subscribe to the email list and just read. Be warned, you'll get a lot of email daily, but none of it's spam-my.

My new years resolution is also to lose weight. I lost all my weight after my daughter, b/c of depression and lack of appetite, but gained like 10 or 15 pounds back. I am so annoyed with myself. I would love to have weekly or daily emails with you to just monitor what we're both eating, and see who's working out and advice we can both give ea. other and of course WEIGH OURSELVES!!

Wow, something like this would be great! I'm 25 years old and I have rheumatoid arthritis. Due to many medicine changes for this and another medical problem of mine, and just not being able to do much exercise for a couple years, I have gained 30 pounds! I am so depressed about this. But I have found that I am terrible at motivating myself to work out. I do pretty well with what I eat and portion control, but I don't exercise enough. I don't have anyone to exercise with and I hate doing it alone. But maybe a group of others in similar situations to talk to will help. This is a wonderful idea!! Have I mentioned how much I really love this site?

I think this is a great idea. In fact I just did the same thing. My company Arbonne is doing a Figure 8 challenge maybe some of you would like to join it and win some prizes and lose your weight. Since Arbonne has pure, safe and beneficial products and a great weight loss line it works great. My husband and some of my team and of course me are going to do it.. check it out at www.gofigure8.com or contact me for more info ____@____.com . I am a mom of 3.. ages 4 Mercy, 3 Caleb, and 10 months K. (nice name right..lol). I really want to put the 40lbs I have gained from them and the size 8-10 I use to be and not a 14 or more. My husband and I are also going to join a gym and work out because that is another important thing as to eating right. So if anyone is interested let me know!!!
GOOD LUCK!!!
K.

sounds good...I need the same type of uplifting. Not just for resolutions, but for everyday living. As a mother, wife, fulltime job and a part time college student, there are days when I need someone to talk to or just someone who can relate. I hope it works out.

There is a GREAT group Ive foind too if any of you ladies want to join...

I too am looking to lose weight and keep it off this year.
I joined Curves about a month and a half ago and have slacked alittle bit.
My resolution is to make sure I stick to going at LEAST 3 days a week..no procrastinating. I also decided to change my eating habits this year to go along with my excercise regiman.
I have read to eat more times a day but smaller portions to help with your metabolism as well as drink lots of water.
I started today.....wish me luck!

I had the weight loss resolution last January and to date have lost over 50 lbs and kept off for a year. I joined Weight Watchers online and it was the first plan that ever worked for me. I don't call it a diet because it truly changed my life. It is a new lifestyle and you have to be totally committed to it. I have changed so many habits, but still am able to enjoy good food...in moderation. I have 2 children and work full time so I don't have a lot of extra time, but I would be willing to share any tips, advice, or give you a little kick in the you know what via email. I never went to the meetings, only held myself accountable, but it worked for me. Others do need that extra accountability from others and for that I would suggest going to the meetings or teaming up with someone to "weigh in" every week. I have a lot of tips that I could share as far as eating, weighing, exercising, etc. Let me know if you want my email address. Good luck!
As far as organization, I give up on that. My tip, if you haven't used it in over a year, throw it away. Keep a date book, and use it.
