A soft fuzzy blanket
A Good Night Moon book.

My last posted seemed to take forever so I'm hoping this one is short and sweet!
Our blended family is expecting baby #3/5 on December 10. I'm hoping for a c-section date of Dec. 9. We don't know what we are having. Together we have two boys- ages 3 1/2 and 18 months at the time of this ones birth and he has two older kids who live with us full-time- 11 year old boy and 14 year old girl. I'm hoping for a girl and already have an idea for her first Christmas present-- a doll of her own! If it's another boy- I'm really stuck as I'm already having a hard time thinking of presents for the 18 month old that we didn't get his older brother!
What other ideas do people have? I know the he/she will not have a clue as to what's going on and may in fact sleep through the whole thing, but I'd like there to be something for the newest one!
Thanks!
I loved the suggestions on personalized gift from Walmart. I had fun looking at them...maybe I'll go that route. I know he/she won't have a clue and it's more for Mommy's sake than anything, but still! :)

maybe a lovey? At our DD's first St. Patrick's Day she received the Pooh Bear that has been her constant companion, she's 4 and still drags him all over.
I would get some sort of "lovey". Whether that be a special blanket or a stuffed animal or one of those "combo" things that is a blanket and a stuffed bear head, lol. Honestly.... the baby isn't going to have a clue about anything you get. So it really is all about YOU. So get the baby something memorable for YOU. A "special" item they can keep for a long time that you can tell them they received on their "first Christmas"....
My son (who has a summer birthday- July) was not quite 6 months old on his first Xmas. He was pretty much clueless about any of it, of course. (Pretty much the same with my daughter who has a June birthday, lol). My brother gave my son a little stuffed snowman with a hat, like Frosty. He was made out of that waffle-weave stuff and was Sooooo squishy soft. (Not fuzzy). I began to put him in his crib with him at bedtime, and he and I would both give "Mr. Snowman" kisses goodnight. Over time, he became so attached to Mr. Snowman that he went on vacations with us. Right up until our son was about 8 years old.... then he got left in a hotel. Fortunately, we noticed later that afternoon, I called the hotel, and the housekeeping manager went and found it and MAILED IT BACK TO US. :)) (with a letter "from Mr. Snowman"--yes she asked me what his name was,lol..... telling our son all about his adventures while he was away from us. so cute!) Around age 10, he started putting him in his closet in a back corner when company would come over (not out of embarrassment so much as he didn't want anything to happen to him). He's 13 now. Still has him, but he is moved to a higher, safer shelf. He'll still have him when he's an old man....
Get him a Lovey. :))
I like the lovey idea. or new pacifiers. When my daughter was 3 months at Christmas I got her an activity gym/floormat, a first Christmas ornament and a box of diapers. She got outfits and toys from relatives.
Congrats! My due date is Dec 10th & my son's bday is Dec 9th. For his first Christmas we got him a playmat, teethers, raddels and little things like that.
A special book. Maybe it's a collection of favorite stories from when you're a child or just a single story. You can write a personal message inside for your child to read when he's older.
How about something sentimental? Maybe get them each an ornament and do a "first xmas" one for the baby. A special stuffed animal or teddy bear could be nice.
If you want toys, please consider buying Discovery Toys for your kids. They are fun, educational, and they come with a lifetime warranty. Many of them can be used in lots of different ways so they really grow with your children. We have great products for babies, toddlers/preschoolers and school aged children. I would love to give you specific recommendations. Please visit my website at http://www.discoverytoyslink.com/karenchao
For your new baby, Try-Angle is my favorite. I love Block It for toddlers and Motor Works for your preschooler. The older two kids would love playing Wiz Kidz.
Congrats on your new baby and happy early holidays!

Honestly, I'd probably just get the baby things it needs like diapers, bottles, wipes, etc. I know it's boring, but if you are having any other Christmas celebrations the baby is going to get a ton of gifts from them, plus being born only a few weeks before Christmas, the baby will probably get a lot of stuff then too. I get why you would want to wrap things up for the baby and put them under the tree, but go easy on yourself and sticks to socks and diapers! ;)
Personally, I'd wait on getting her (if it's a girl) a doll of her own until she's old enough and can really enjoy it, but that's just me.
I have a few but also posted some links for walmart online that you can personalize for either a girl or boy or both. :)
A baby's first bible with the name printed on the front.(dont know if you religious or not, just a thought as a keepsake)
A toy that has some bright colors or just black and white.

It doesn't really matter. The baby will be a tiny newborn and will not care.
I think my first baby got some clothes and some stuffed dinosaurs for Christmas, along with some baby toys. What mattered to me that Christmas was that there was a baby in the family, for the first time, and it was so wonderful watching my sister, DH's brothers, and both sets of grandparents getting to snuggle with the tiny baby. We took lots of pictures, and THAT's what I cherish about that Christmas.
If you really want to do something, maybe some sort of "welcome to the family" book that each of the four kids could contribute to?
My oldest daughter was born Dec. 13th and my youngest was born Nov. 16th. They both got loveys from my sister as baby gifts which are still special to them 11 and 14 years later! This is what we got them for their first Christmases: personalized Christmas stockings that they still use, first Christmas ornament from daddy, a special book signed by both of us, first Christmas dress from both of us, and from mommy, the holiday Barbie from the year they were born as a collectible which are still displayed in the boxes in their rooms. Get keepsake items like the above, not disposable things like diapers and pacifiers! If you got to be more practical, then get a set of the classic Christmas shows like Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, etc.
