You might want to try the sray and wash that dreft make's it's for baby's, so you know it as no perfumes or dyes in it. They sell it at Wal-Mart,Target,and ect.
Good luck.
I am a 1st time mom with a 6 week old son, who is happily napping in my arms as I type. I am have an impossible time getting the mustard yellow stains out of his onsies. We have had a few diaper blow-outs recently. I have very sensitive skin, so I would like to avoid dyes & perfumes if possible.
Thanks in advance to the seasoned moms for taking the time to share your tried & true tricks.

Try using dishwashing detergent like Cascade. Either use the liquid, or make a paste out of the dry, and rub into stains. Can also soak in warm water with Cascade rubbed in. Then wash. May help--it took out even old formula stains in some of my shirts when my son was little.
The first commandment is, rinse out and soak as soon as possible. After that (and when you can't, because you're out), I've had good luck with Mother's Little Miracle (it's an enzyme based stain remover meant for babies), and with Baby OXY Clean, soaks, and even scrubbing a little wtih a paste made from Baby Oxy and water.
Good Luck!
I don't know if any one has mentioned Bi-O Kleen's "Bac Out". It is made of a natural enzyme that actually eats the biological matter. I have been spraying it on my baby's cloth diapers and clothing and the stains come right out. Every mom should have a bottle of this stuff.
Hi! Have you tried leaving the clothes out in the sun to dry after laundering? Sunlight, even through the window, took out my son's newborn-poop stains, even out of his diapers! This might only work with breastfed babies; I'm not sure. Good luck!
Wow! I am amazed at all the things I have never heard of to remove baby stains. I am a grandma now and dealing with these issues all over again with my grand-daughter. But I remember when my kids were little, my baby doc recommended using plain old Ivory soap, the bar kind, and rubbing it directly on the stain using some water and making it into a paste, then washing as usual. I remember being amazed that it worked! However, one of my favorite things to use now is Spray n Wash, Dual Power. It even removes stains that have been left for days and some that have even been washed and dried previously. It doesn't take much and has not irritated our baby. Well that's all. God bless you and your new baby!
I can definitely relate. My son had the same problem when he was in diapers. My sister turned me on to a product made by Amway called Tri Zyme. It's a detergent booster, so you also need a detergent. I used Dreft when my son was an infant until he was about 3 since I have sensitive skin too. Now I use the Amway detergent called SA8.
Anyway, rinse the yellow stains and then make a paste out of the Tri Zyme & water and apply to stain, soak for 24 hours. Rinse again, and if there's still a stain, reapply paste and soak again for 24 hours. Once stain is gone, wash with the rest of your laundry. I still use this product for everything and my son is five!! Boys get into so much dirt, mud, chalk, etc.
I used oxyclean powder for babies. You can purchase it at Target or at Babies R Us. I would rise the onesie and then put a little powder in the sink and let the onesie soak in it. Depending on the size of the stains, you can soak the items up to 7 hours. I was able to get all of the baby stains out of our clothes, blankets etc... using this method/product.
There's a product at the health food stores called Bac Out, and I put it on the stains as soon as I can and let them sit; it works MOST of the time. I keep a little travel size shampoo bottle of it in my purse for around town, it helps with my six year old son's stains as well.
Hi R.,
I've found that putting onesies (and other poop stained baby clothes) out in the sun to dry is a very effective way to remove the stain. It works best if they haven't been heat dried yet but I've been successful at removing the stains this way even if they have. Wash them on cold (so as not to set the stain) with your usual detergent and hang them outside with the stain directly facing the sun. This works even on cool or overcast days as long as it isn't raining, the clothing item doesn't need to dry outside completely. On particularly bright sunny hot days leaving a colored clothing item outside too long will sun bleach and fade the color so only leave out as long as necessary. Good luck. - K.
I have a 6 month baby girl that hads eczema, and the only soaps we can use has to be free from all perfumes so I understand.
But because of that we started add a little baking soad to the wash and a 1/2 cup of vinager to the fabric softener dis. when her clothes had stains, plus we use cloth diapers and I didn't like the stains (vinager whites and brightens so you can use on your little ones whites and colors) these are two stain busters people have be useing for years and have work for me also.
This is going to sound absolutely crazy, but trust me...It has worked every time with my seven month old. Take the peice of clothing and place it in direct sunlight. Leave it for the day (I have done this inside the house in a window as well as outside), and I'm not kidding you....the stain will be gone. Side note: THIS ONLY WORKS WITH BREASTFED BABIES. Apparently, there is something in the breastmilk that breaks down organically and reacts with the sunlight. It's seriously amazing. Good luck!
I am a chemically sensitive mom and have raised 4 children using Shaklee products. You can check out these products at my website: www.shaklee.net/suzannebarrett Click on Get Clean.
Shaklee was featured on Oprah 4 times last year as her favorite cleaning products.
Shaklee Corporation was born green in 1956 and is the first green company, 52 years old. 100% money back gurantee on all products
I absolutly LOVE Baby Oxyclean. My now 14 year ols had well still has VERY sensitive skin that reacted to everything that I tried to use, but not Baby Oxyclean. I still to this day use it for his Laundry, it does wonders for his football uniforms, the whole team started using it. You can also use the regular Oxyclean as well, I usually get it at Wal-Mart, but you can find at Target, Safeway, and even Costco, but they only carry the regular Oxyclean.
The Dreft spray works well, as does Palmolive liquid dish soap with OXY. As a preventative to stain setting you can use 2 capfulls of vinegar in the rinse cycle instead of fabric softener... it's a trick I learned for cloth diapers and I haven't had even one poopy diaper stain set(I wash them myself). Some MaMas keep a bucket of water mixed with OxyClean in the garage and drop in anything with a stain to soak until laundry time and had good results as well. Good Luck!
I love the brand Caldrea. They have a whole line of products called Sweet Pea that are for baby, including surface wipes, room spray, and laundry detergent. I love their detergent because it is natural and only lightly scented. They also have a good stain remover. You can find it in Sonora at Hibernation Home, if you're in this area.
Dreft makes a spray on stain remover that has worked great for me. I use Dreft laundry detergent and liked that I didn't have to introduce another product to my babies skin. Be sure not to let the stain sit too long before laundering the clothes. Good luck!
Hello: I love Soil Love stain remover! Having two boys myself, I'm constantly doing laundry and removing stains with it.
Hi there,
I also have very sensitive skin and have been using Baby Oxy to treat the blowouts my daughter sometime has. I use it primarily for the spot treatments and it works great and no reactions to the skin! I tell you, it's really saved me from having to buy new clothes.
As for regular detergent, I use All or Tide Free & Clear stuff!
Hope that helps and best of luck to you! Congrats on your new lil' one too!
I've had pretty good success with pre-soak with borax and warm/hot water followed by washing (the sooner the better) in regular warm wash with borax mixed in for "laundry boosting".
I have found Felsnapp Laundary Soap to be the best thing for stains -- accross the board. It is a bar soap, usually found with the other detergents. It can be tricky to find but a bar will last forever.
As was suggested, get the stained garment into water to soak as soon as possible. When you are ready to wash, scrub the stains with the Felsnapp, leave the soap on and then just wash as you usually would.
Hi R.!
I use Dreft stain remover spray for the stains. You can get it at the grocery store/Babies R Us. I swear it takes the stains out of everything. I even use it on my husbands clothes to remove stains and it works better than Shout! Give it a try! I've also heard Oxi-clean for BABY works well, but it may be a little harsher on your skin.
~J.
Good morning,
Congratulations on your new baby boy. I would try to give them a quick wash in the sink right after you change him. I had a few of those and I would put the onesie in a pitcher of HOT water and then rinse out after a couple of minutes then throw it in the washer. This usually worked for me. =)
Hello! If you are close to a Babies R Us or maybe Toys R Us, they have baby oxi-clean. I don't know who else carries it. I haven't been able to find it at the grocery stores by my house. Anyways, it is made especially for babies, so it is free of dyes and perfumes. It works wonderfully! So far I have only found it in powder form.. They don't have the liquid spray baby oxi-clean. I dab a little on the spot, put the clothes in the washer, add a little more of the oxi clean to the washer and put the washer on soak before it actually starts to do the cleaning. I hope this helps!
I found that Spray 'n' Wash worked really well for my kid's spit-up stains, and even for the blow-out stains until he started eating solid food. It is pretty strongly scented, though. But I recently discovered this completely odorless stuff at Trader Joe's called Oxo-Brite. It's a powder and although it doesn't really work in my washer (front loader--I think it might work better in a top loader) it does work fabulously to soak the stained clothes in a tub of hot water with a scoop dissolved in it. Occasionally I've had to soak things again, but eventually it's worked every time. Lastly, I've found that Jergen's bar soap (hard to find recently, for some reason, but they have it at Walgreen's) has some unexpected stain-fighting abilities. Rub the bar into the stain and then scrub the stained fabric back and forth on itself, and it does fabulous things for really stubborn stuff like poop and blood and mud. Good luck with the stains, and enjoy that wonderful little guy. Mine just turned a year, and it's just amazing how quickly the year went by.
A.
Hi R.: Before using hot water, clean with cold water and then soak stains in hydrogen peroxide..then wash in warm or hot water/with soap for sensitive babies, or no soap at all..should clean them right up. L.
I've used Totally Toddler and it removes stains beautifully. My son has sensitive skin and it never bothered him. I got it at Babies R Us and after trying the small bottle I bought the gallon container and it's lasted almost a year at this point and I've still got probably half a container left. Good luck!
Unfortunately, once the stain is set in I have had no luck in removing them.
If I clean it right when the blowout occurs, this usually works. I rinse the poo out in cold water and spray on Dreft stain remover. I then wash in Dreft detergent and the stain usually comes out. If you wait to long to wash the item, it doesn't work though. Good luck!
A diaper pre-soak with a mild bleach mixture in the diaper pail should do it. Be sure to rinse your diapers twice. They used to make a wonderful pre-soak called Diaper Sweet back in the days before most moms went to disposables. It also works for those fruit stained bibs and undershirts. Bravo on using cloth, wish everyone would.
I had the same problem with my babies clothes! We used Spray N Wash, then layed them out in the sun to dry and sun bleach out. The sun has some effect on this type of stain that totally removes it!
A friend recommended Oxi Clean Baby. I soaked my sons stained clothes in them and then threw them in the washer and they came clean. I found this product at Target.
My little guy had a blow out the first day he got home, and we had to wash the clothes twice. My mom and mother in law found that the oxy stain remover work great (there is a special one just for babies). They also soak and sprayed 'shout' on it before they wash the clothes. Hopefully that works.
Hi R., I used the powder form Oxy Clean to soak the stained item in. Sometimes it took a little while, but the stains ALWAYS came out. Then I rinsed the Oxy clean off the item myself and then washed it in the washer with Dreft. I just gave my daughter's small baby clothes away and not one thing had a stain!!
Hi R.,
Congrats on your baby boy! They are the best (I have a 7 month old son!)
We use dish soap to begin with, then if there is still a stain, we use the baby spray Oxi-Clean. We use the seventh generation free and clear laundry detergent. It works pretty well. I think the trick is to get it ASAP. I made the mistake (way too m any times) of waiting till I did laundry to get the stains out and we have stains in his onsies. But if you get to it right away, these products work great for us.
The only thing is...the baby oxi-clean is only available at Babies R Us. It is pretty expensive, I just think it is worth it!
Good luck and make sure you enjoy the time...it goes way too fast!
R.,
This is an all too common problem amongst new moms. I 100% completely recommend Zout. It comes in either a red or purple diet. I do not know where you live, but I easily find it in California in a Target in the laundry section. It gets everything out and it has little odor and it is a clear solution. It is relatively inexpensive. I usually buy 2-3 bottles each time.
Good luck, T.
We use Tsunami or Biokleen or any "green" alternative bleach or spot remover. We also just got used to the stains, as there are so many to come!
As a laundry soap, we use Dr. Bronner's SAL SUDS. It's ph balanced and biodegradable, and super concentrated. It even gets our cloth diapers clean.
Hope that helps.
Hi R.,
I was able to get out that lovely mustard yellow stuff by doing the following:
- as soon as possible after the stain happens, rinse in sink w/ cold water & scrub with regular hand soap (dove or ivory in our case). That got out the worst of it, then...
- I used Stain Stick stain remover on the stain, then washed with her normal baby load of laundry, which was always cold, gentle cycle with Dreft detergent and Downy Free & Sensitive fabric softener. My daughter has super-sensitive skin, too, and I was worried the stain stick would cause her clothes to irritate her, but this procedure didn't bother her skin at all.
Hope that helps!
A.
I always rinsed the stains out, then applied shout. I used Dreft laundry soap for my newborns' laundry. Also, use hot water as much as possible. Good luck and have fun.
I absolutely love and only use Oxi-clean for stains!! You can get a huge box of the powder at Costco. I put one scoop into the pink tub they gave me at the hospital, add super hot tap water and stir to dissolve the granules. Soak the onesies in it overnight, sometimes I do a couple days, and then rinse out w/ hot water before washing. Only one time I had to soak 3 back to back times in Oxi-clean, and the stain was from enchilada sauce :) It did come out, though!
Oh yeah, and I've even had luck w/ this after washing and drying stuff w/ stains set in.
Hope this helps!
A.
I recommend not using bleach. What I do recommend is a safe non toxic brightner. You can safely use it on colored clothes too. Go to member perks on Mamasource and look for Shaklee, I have a special offer for Shaklee orders. First order is a total 10% refund from me. All Shaklee products are 100% satisfaction guarantee (shipping is not included). I have very sensitive skin and I use all the Shaklee laundry products, because they have no perfumes, dyes or chemicals that are harmful.
Good luck, B.
We used Shout spray and kept it at the diaper changing table. Each mess got an immediate spray and then laundered. This worked for us! Good luck!
If you get to it right away, hot water and a stiff brush (old toothbrush or I like the tide spin brush) will usually take those out. They come out best in hot water though. Cold water doesn't seem to work. If it isn't coming out right away or it has sitten for a bit then a spray of spray and wash scrubbed in then wash in hot water with the brush. It seemed like my son had blowout after blowout, and that seemed to work for us.
I found that the Oxy Clean for babies got out those stains. If you pick the second rinse option it should get all the detergent out so skin won't be irritated. Hope this helps :)
Pre-soak in BIZ and cold water, before washing.
My son is now four and my daughter is 8 months old, but I had that same problem with both of them. I found that if I was able to rinse the clothes immediately (or shortly after) and use a bar of Dove soap on the stain (unscented, perfect for sensitive skin) that it helped. Good luck!
In my past experiences it just stains and there isn't much you can do about it. Sorry.
Dreft stain remover(it is in the baby aisle or with the dreft soap) will get out just about anything. We don't even use shout anymore this stuff works soooo well. Hope that helps.
Oxo Brite, Oxy Clean, or Oxy Baby (and I think they do an unscented version) ...I've also just read that aspirin is a good whitener in the was (a couple tablets per load). You can also do an extra rinse to get the scent of anything out more. Good luck!
Mrs.Meyers makes a baby stain remover that we use on an almost daily basis. It works wonders! It's all natural. Good luck!
Soak them overnight in Oxyclean. It will get out the stains even after they have been laundered.
I have very sensitive skin also, and we use Zout. It works really well!
Hi, I've had the same problem and what has worked well for me is to use a combination of oxyclean crystals and a concentrated stain remover (like zout). If you work them into the stain under warm water with your fingers or with a small brush, together they create a paste and work to take out those yellow stains. Then wash the clothes in a regular warm laundry cycle with non-irritating baby detergent. Hope this helps.
I will tell you I too tried for ages to get the stains out using a toddler stain remover I used a bucket by the changer with the powder in water and a spray both from babies r us. They are made for babies so probably would not bother your skin. I can also tell you that switching diapers can sometimes help and I can tell you as my daughter got a little bigger (she is 15 months now) that I learned a little stain around the edge covered with some pants never hurt anyone! Good luck enjoy your baby and yet not to stress too much!
Hi R.. I had the same problem. I happened to buy the cheapest stain remover and it worked-Shout. I found if you rinse the poop out first then spray shout it will remove the stain even if you don't wash it for a couple of days!!
Oxyclean is the one and only thing that has worked for me. I get a bucket and soak the stained items for a few days then wash. The stained items cannot be washed and dried without first doing the oxyclean or it won't work. The sooner the freshly stained clothes go into an oxyclean soak the better. you can buy a big tub of it at Costco will last forever.
Hi R. -
First off congratulations on your baby boy! What I found that worked with both my boys and stains was the orange dial antibacterial soap. You do have to scrub the clothes, but it worked amazingly well.
A.
Try SA8 laundry soap!! Works like a charm on all my kids yuck! I LOVE it and they have a sensitive skin soap powder... All though my son has severe eczema and asthma and sensitive skin and he can use the regular soap***most of their cleaners and soaps are all organic and even their vitamins are all natural and organic...kosher and Hallal certified...AS a mom I LOVE this sites products and have replaced most everything in my cabinets with their organic cleansers and such...
Jamie
PS it can only be ordered on line...www.flirtwithhealth.com you have to sign up as a customer (free) and you can even have it shipped every so often with out ordering it is a program called DITTO
Try hanging them in the sunshine. I seem to recall that worked for me 40 years ago.
Congratulations!
I washed all the whites in HOT water.....& don't let'em sit. Soak them in hot a s a p.
I have found that using "Shout" works great... put it on the clothing and let it set awhile, then you can wash it with baby laundry detergent (such as Dreft) and use the cyle on your washing machine that will rinse twice. Good Luck.
Hi,
We all have that problem! Try Zout. It's an enzyme stain remover found in the stain remover section. If you treat the stain while it's still wet, and wash in warm or hot water, it might actually come out. Barring that, I used a Clorox bleach pen just on the stained area, and also sprayed some Zout on and then washed. That usually did the trick--good as new! As long as the onesies are white, this is your best bet.
Good luck!
Ok, sounds like I'm probably going to give you the exact same advice. I've got baby number three now, who is 8weeks old so I'm dealing with the same thing. I take her onesies and soak them in a bucket of cold water and Oxyclean overnight, then launder as usual. I do hope this helps you because I know those yellow stains are terrible to deal with. Good luck.
I just soak them and then rub out most of it as soon as it happens - ewww. Then I put it through the washer w/ the rest of the laundry. I use Seventh Generation "Free and Clear."
R., me and my wife have three girls. I've also help raise my nephews,(3-ages 0--17 now) so I've seen the worst in stains. We've always used DREFT you can find it in the same isle that you find your laundry soap. DREFT . I used SHOUT on the stains + DREFT and pretty much all the stains come out. Some stains, you can't scrub enough, SHOUT enough or anything, just that it for what it is and either keep it or through it! Can't win them all. My wife also has the problems with the skin and perfumes and all. So check out DREFT, it works.
Have you tried Dreft? Also for those spots just use a spot remover. Stay away from drier sheets as they can cause skin irritation
Hey R.,
The key is to get them soaked before the poopies dry up. Of course you want to wash off as much of it with water first. Try Dreft laundry detergent (made for sensitive baby skin), just use a little on the spots and rub it in. Let it sit a couple minutes and throw it in the wash with the baby's other laundry. If you aren't doing laundry at the time, you might want to designate a sink and let it sit in water and the detergent until you are ready to do a wash. The best thing is to get a lot of onesies to be able to change baby frequently... and DON'T WORRY about it, soon baby will outgrow them and you will be getting a new set of onesies (can't have too many of them). :-)
If you continue to get blow outs, you might also want to weigh the baby and see if you need to go up a size in diapers. Hope that helps. Good luck!
P.S. I've noticed with Dreft you have to be careful with the amount you use in the washing machine... it's very "soapy" and might cause too much foamy bubbles and back up your pipes.
Hang them in the sun! It sounds so simple, but it really works.
Well, I've tried everything from soaking them in white vinegar and baking soda to sun-drying them (naturally whitening), but the only things that finally worked were Solu-mel, a natural stain remover, mela-brite, and scent-free Melapower. All of the above products are ph balanced, phosphate/chlorine/bleach free, and my little guy, who is now 6 months old (the flies by so fast!), never had any adverse reactions. These products rinse completely free from clothing, while other commercial products don't (they leave a residue on clothing which irritates skin), and they also make a ph balanced fabric softener, which I loved, because I haven't been able to use a softener for years because of skin allergies (obviously, it doesn't rinse completely from clothing either).
Hope that helps!
oxy clean, add a little to you're regular laundry soap.
There is a product out there that seems to get EVERYTHING out www.genuineproklean.com, they have an extensive line but I use it on EVERYTHING. My 6 year old son has had a few accidents in bed (urine) I shake, spray and wipe up with a terrycloth rag, it dries overnight, spot is gone and area smells clean. Here is a quote from someone on the website:
It actually did very well. It removed about 80 percent of an old mustard stain and about 90 percent a recent one. I wasn't expecting any such success with mustard, as it is so difficult to remove. I tried it on my husbands dirty clothes and it removed the majority of the stains on them. I intend to keep it around for those emergencies that always seem to occur. Thanks.
The sooner you treat the item or stain, the better...you won't be disappointed. I has also gotten out Kool Aid, Oil on my beige rug, candle oil, blood and other things.
Good Luck.
You can try hydrogen peroxide or even hanging them in the sun. The sun will naturaly bleach things.
Oxiclean worked for me. I discovered it when my 1st daughter was about 3 months old. It even took out old stains. I soak the item in a small bucket with the hottest water possible. It might have took a couple times but it worked. The sooner you catch the stain the better. After soaking I would wash it as normal.
SA8 is what we use too, it is the BEST and every orange or green stain my 10 week old has left on her clothes have come right out. I also highly recommend their pre-wash for super stubborn stains. Both are products by Amway, so you can find them online or get a local rep and avoid shipping charges. Our guy is great and delivers straight to our door no charge. If you're in the Bay Area you can use him too. His name is Walter Swarthout and his office # is ###-###-####. Let him know you're new to the line and I bet he'll bring you some samples. It seems expensive at apx $35 a box, but we only have to buy it TWICE a year, and the pre-wash is apx. $12 and we buy it every other year or so.
Poor the liquid baby or free/clear or organic liquid detergent directly on the stain or make a paste with the powdered detergent and apply it directly to the stain. Hope it works,
Hi, Congratulations on your baby. I used Baby Oxyclean on all of our babies things. Just a day of soaking and one wash and everything came out. I was even able to get stains out of items that were already washed and dried.
After you wash them, just put them out in the sun to dry! You can literally watch the stain disappear-very cool! It won't work once he starts solids, though...
Mom of two girls who wear stained clothes!
Dry them in sun light. I use cloth diapers and let the sun bleach out all the stains.
Congratulations and good luck. :)
I also have VERY sensitive skin. Tide and the lot give me pretty bad contact dermatitis.
The best laundry soaps I've found (and I've tried just about all of them including Dreft.) are 7th Generation and also Planet. They are available at Whole Foods and often Safeway as well as Elephant Pharm and other natural foods markets. I've tried other natural laundry detergents as well, but they also gave me contact dermatitis - even the Trader Joe's brand. But 7th Generation and Planet are very specifically hypo-allergenic, as well as being biodegradable, phosphate free, and not tested on animals. For really stubborn stains, sometimes I pretreat with a "Shout-like" hypo-allergenic stain remover from Eco-cover. The "Oxy-clean"-type bleaches are also good. They are essentially concentrated hydrogen-peroxide, and I've had good luck using them on my whites. The one available at Trader-Joes is very inexpensive. You can find it at the previously mentioned stores as well.
Hope that helps!
Clorox 2 really works but I know it is not the gentlest. My now 11 month old used to have blowouts all the time and it was the only thing that got those stains out. I would use it to treat the stains first, scrubbing it out, then add it to the wash too. I think it did bother her skin though, even though I double rinsed, so I then just skipped adding it to the wash. Hth.
I am a first time Mom as well with an eight month old.Dreft was recommended to me as I have allergies to strong smelling detergents. It is sensitive and works well. We have been using it daily!
Good Luck!

Hi R.!
I became obsessed with stain removers after having my first. I have 2 little ones--4 and 1 year old girls.
I don't have a natural alternative to suggest but we found Zout to be very effective in removing those yellow stains. Another mom actually gave me a bottle with a shower gift. I guess this stuff has been around a long time and other people mentioned it to me later.
My whole family has sensitive skin and we never seem to have a problem with it.
I also found that Tide free and clear detergent as the best in fighting stains in general (as compared to All free and clear and some of the others).
Of course, the stain issue never goes away although the type of stain changes. So, I will be interested in reading other responses to your question for a natural alternative.
Enjoy your new baby!
A.
White Wizard Spot Remover gets the poop out perfectly. Its all natural, non-toxic, odorless. It also gets blood out really well.
You may have hard water that is setting the stains in to your clothing. Have it checked out.
Hello!
As a mom of two (a 3-year-old and a 16-month old) I know all too well about the stains you're describing! What I found that worked the best was just soaking the clothes in warm water with some Oxy Baby. I tried the regular Oxy Clean detergent and it seems like the Oxy Baby works much better. It's a white powder/crystals that you can pour into a sink-full of warm water. I let it sit in there a long time, several hours if not overnight. Then when the stain's out,I run the clothes through the wash. My son has VERY sensitive skin and bad eczema and the Oxy Baby didn't harm his skin at all. Hope this helps!
A.
Hello R.,
There are two products I would recommend: Seventh Generation Stain and Spot remover and Ecovers Non Chlorine Bleach. Both companies make safe household products that not only work but are non toxic and safe. Seventh Generation has a complete line that is Free and Clear- free from all dyes and perfumes.
Try putting Clorox Free and Clear color safe bleach directly on the stains and let it sit for a little bit before you wash. I've found this product to be great at getting out other tough stains.
We have used Zout in the gel form for a while it works great on lots of things. You can get it at Longs and Walgreens but it isn't cheap. But it gets out most of my kids stains.
Hi R.. I am have very sensitive skin and so does my son. I use DAWN dish soap or SHOUT and for laundry soap I use ALL fragrance, dye free, hypoallegentic. Best of luck.
T.
I have had good luck with spray and wash. As soon as you change the baby, spray the clothes (saturate) and then it generally comes out in the wash. GOod luck.
Sunshine works beautifully so if you have a porch you can hang your sweetie's laundry on, that usually takes care of it. A vinegar rinse can do it too. Or lemon juice on the stain and then sunshine.
Congratulations on your new baby. Heres what I have always done to get any stains out of my childrens clothes. I use All free and clear (it has no perfumes or dies). Before I put it in the washer though I spray it very good all over the stain with Shout. It has always worked very good for me, and I had babies that spit up everything all over thier clothes. Good luck.
I recommend Shaklee brand detergent too. I have been able to get everything out...they have a powder or detergent. For tough stains like blood or other stuff like that, I use Shaklee's Nature Bright first, then wash it. My daughter also has very sensitive skin, so we try to avoid all dyes and perfumes too, and this has been the best for her.
Vinegar and baking soda are good stain removers. Sprinkle a few tablespoons of baking soda over the clothes before you start the load and use vinegar as you would bleach. Just make sure that you don't machine dry the stained clothes until the stain is gone. A dryer will set the stains. Sun drying actually helps get the stains out as well.
Hope this helps,

Oxyclean!!!! I fill the bathroom sink with hot water, add a cup full and soak the clothes. I also put some right on the stain before I soak the soiled clothing. Then just wash normally in the washing machine. Works for me every time!
I'm not sure if you are ok w/ using OxyClean... but it works wonders! There are all types out there. I think maybe even a baby oxyclean. I have used the powder... you just put enough powder to cover the stain, and add a little water. You can rub it in, or let it sit. It works super fast, so you might not need to let it sit for too long. Let me know if this helps...
Congrats on your son! With both of my kids I used Baby Oxy Clean and it works wonders. I use it almost daily still between the 2 year old food disasters and my 5 month olds yellow blow outs. The best thing about it is if you use a good amount of it in a sink full of water and just leave the onesie for a few hours when you come back the stain is often gone...even without any scrubbing! Some tough ones require some follow up but I've saved so many clothes this way. I don't think it is scent free, but both of my kids have eczema and they've never had any issues with my using this.
My daughter swears by blue Dawn. She says as soon as the blow out happens she rubs blue Dawn dish soap into the stain and scrubs it a bit and it always cleans up. She says she has no baby stains on any of her little boys clothes. Another daughter said she used it with success on a throw up stain in her carpet she had been struggling with.
Congratulations on your new baby! What I did was rinse the garment immediately and used bar soap to scrub the stains then soak it in the sink (warm water) for a couple hours. Then I used Dreft or Tide Free & Clear to wash with the rest of her clothes. It worked pretty well. Good luck!

I use "Baby Oxiclean" because of the same reasons as you. It is a little more expensive but my skin does not react. I also use "Tide Free" for detergent which is excellent. No dyes or perfumes in either product.
The best way to use it for those stains is to spray it on liberally and leave it sitting for awhile and then do your wash as normal. It works for me every time.
Also I was reacting to the normal Johnson's shampoo so I called the company and am now using Johnson's Baby Naturals which is fantastic! I am starting to heal from my allergic reactions and my skin is thanking me.
I wrote out a similar question here on this site but forgot to mention my skin sensitivity so I had alot of feedback on products I could not use. Therefore for now, I will stick with my baby oxiclean.
I hope this really helps you!
Blessings,
K. (Mom of almost 7 month old)
Hi and cograts on your new little one, my son is 8 months old and I use seven generation baby liquid laundry soap available at whole foods or online through green baby or other stores. I just pour the liquid soap directly on the stain as a pre wash treatment and then wash it- it has removed practically all of the poopy stains from my sons's clothes. You can also use nature's miracle enzyme formula as a spray directly on the stain

In our house we use the Spray and Wash stain stick, and the Spray and wash dual power, Depends on when it will be going into the wash. The stain stick works great for soaking for a day before. I also love the Oxy Clean laundry stain remover. Wal Mart carries all 3 items. I would have to say that the oxyclean works the fastest.
