Hi ladies,
o we are going on vacation, and my 3 1/2 year old still sleeps in her crib. I do not want to move her to a big girls bed yet. No need to, she sleeps very wee in her crib. The problem is that the hotel we are going to does not have any cribs, only pack and plays...she would not even fit. Any ideas on what to do? I don't want her to sleep in the bed there. She will already have issues sleeping somewhere other than HER room, I don't want to make it worse by putting her in a big bed. Am I out of luck, or does anyone have a great idea! Thank you so much for you help. This is all starting to stress me out.

So What Happened?

Thank you moms for all of you great ideas. I found a baby rental company 10 min away from where we are staying. We will be able to rent a crib! All stress is gone! Thank you again for all of your help!

C.,

If you don't think she'll fit in a pack n play, what about making a "big girl bed" on the floor. You can buy her a sleeping bag and use that for your trip and anytime she sleeps over at Grandma and Grandpa's house.

We found the bigger deal on trips is having their OWN pillow. So we pack the special blanket, dolly, etc. IN their own pillow case (something special like princesses), then they think we brought THEIR pillows from home. It's more the comfort and familiarity of bed items for home we've found.

I hope this helps.

We had the same problem the last time we were on vacation! We brought the pack and play and when we put her in we were shocked to find she could not even fit from corner to corner! lol

We ended up just putting her in the regular bed and tucked the sheet in tight around her and into the bottom of the mattress as well as put pillows all around her just incase she moved. After the first night of me being stressed I ended up sleeping with her just to be on the safe side! Bad thing was is that she now refuses to go back to bed alone- 2 months later! She falls asleep in my bed then I have to carry her to hers when I wake up in the middle of the night! Ughhhhhhhhh- I work on it nightly and still no luck!

I wish I would have asked this question before and I have to say.... I love the previous posters idea of the sleeping bag for special trips and going to Gma and Gpas!! Of course bring a flat sheet to put on the floor under it so she is not touching who knows what!

Stop stressing! It will all work out as long as you do not show you are nervous! Good luck and I hope you have a fun filled memory making vacation! Blessings to you!

How about a child size blow up mattress (one step ahead I know has them)? Similar to the sleeping bag idea.

Good luck and have a nice trip.

Blow-up mattress is a great idea. Target still has them with a sleeping bag attached; you blow up the mattress and the top pad is zippered like a sleeping bag. They are smaller mattresses and are Disney-themed and affordably priced. Being close to the ground is a comfort at this point in her life since she hasn't experienced a big-girl bed. The one that I was looking for is the princess-design, however "cars" is the only one I'm seeing at Target.

When you go to this web-site, scroll down to the section "Guest who bought this item also bought...." Either Target still carries it or you can find it some other place, maybe on the web.

Good luck.

Hi C..

You might be able to find some crib rental agencies online that will deliver to your hotel. When we vacationed in Hawaii, this was an option for us, but we ended up using our pack n play since our daughter was only 7 months old and slept in it just fine. Try to do a "google" search of crib rentals along with your vacation location and see if anything comes up.

good luck.

We've done 2 different things.

Rented a crib - depending on where you go, there might be a place that rents. We found it on the internet and they delivered and picked up. We were staying in a house so they dropped off and picked up in a certain time frame, I don't know how that would work with a hotel.

The other thing we did was have him sleep in the bed with me. That was after the hotel said they did have a crib and we showed up and then they didn't have one.

The blowup bed is a good idea or maybe if you have a van, just bring a crib mattress to put on the floor.

Good luck.

Try the Toddler Aerobed. We recently tested it out since we're expecting our second baby in the Fall & want to transition our daughter to a big girl bed. She slept like a rockstar in it! I researched a few different models (incl one at One Step Ahead) & this was the best reviewed. It blows up in a minute & is quite comfortable. It comes with the pump, a sheet & convenient carrying case. We bought ours through amazon.com (price was less than currently listed).
