I have a 10 month old, and weened him a month ago. You're hormones are just regulating. It's totally normal. It lasts sometimes more than a month. I still have some symptoms.
I recently weened my 4 1/2 month old daughter off my breasts this past Memorial Day weekend. Since then I have been experiencing cramping, fever, body aches, cold sweats. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Never felt this way before and this has happened twice already lasting for about 2-3 days.

Does your breast hurt? It sounds like mastitis or engorgement. It is really rough weaning a baby that old that quickly. If you do have mastitis the best thing to do would be to have your baby nurse it out and switch between hot and cold compresses along with massaging the breasts frequently. If you put your baby back to the breast again for a bit you should wean a bit slower (or pump for a while). Go a little longer between feedings (or pumping) so your body thinks your baby isn't wanting as much milk and will stop producing as much and will eventually dry up. This will help to keep you from getting infection in your breasts. Good luck.
Sounds like Mastitis. I don't know much about it, but several friends have had it and that's what they experienced.
Do you have any pain in your breasts? You could have Mastitis. It is an infection and will require a doctor visit. I would give your doctor a call ASAP just to be sure. It could be unrelated, but you don't want to wait if it is. Hope you feel better soon!
Hi- As others have said you probably have a breast infection. You need to see your doctor or midwife immediately. If not treated quickly it can progress and can be dangerous. I had terrible complications from breast infections when my first was born, not fun! You may need to start nursing again to be sure you are emtpying the breasts as your body cannot adjust to weaning over such a short period of time. Call La Leche League, your doctor or a nursing coach for advice on what to do. Good Luck!
I am a nurse and just like the others have said it may be mastitis. You should go to the doctor or midwife because if it is you will need antibiotics. It could also be just from weaning so quickly. If you have any hard or red spots go in a warm shower and gently rub or press on those spots to relieve the pressure, you should leak milk by doing this. You should be putting on ice packs to help with pain and slow your production of milk. Also use cabbage leaves to dry you up, it sounds funny but really works and lactation nurses will recomend it. If you refridgerate the cabbage the cooling will feel good too, I always just put one whole leaf on each breast and changed frequently. Also Motrin helps. Good luck I know that it is painful and for the first few days it can feel like this. 1 of my 3 weaned himself all of a sudden like this and I didn't have mastitis but would get periods with the same symptoms as you from being so full of milk.
Sounds like it might be a breast infection.
sounds like you are experiencing fighting off mastitis. Weaning should always be gradual.. you may still have to pump a little if feeling still some fullness. Look at your breast for signs of infection if follow up with doctor if you see any. if minor, can treat at home self.
If you didn't over a period of 3 days I'd be very concerned about mastitis. Check your breasts for hard, tender, or hot spots. Otherwise it could be just the change in hormones. A fever is very alarming though. I'd say go see your gyno asap.
check this link sounds like Mastits, if it sounds like what you have you may want to see the dr if it persists. http://www.askdrsears.com/html/2/T022200.asp
I had it because my baby was not latching properly and if pretty much went away after about 4 days. I took tylenol for the fever and pain. The issue is that makes it diff for you is your trying to ween the baby so obviously you cant latch the baby to help you heal faster so at that point maybe seeign the dr for an antibiotic
