If you need assistance, yes you should apply for help! That is what the different assistance programs are for.
i am pregnant with my third chid and i am not able to work anymore. my husband gets dissability from the military and has school pay coming in. do you think it would be ok to apply for medicaid paranatal? i kind of feel bad doing it when there are people out there in worst shape. its like i should not be pregnant again.
i would like to thank everyone for the wonderful advice. i went ahead and applied and i know that i qualify financially so hopefully i will soon have insurance. you all had great things to say and it makes me feel so much better. thank you again.

Yes, apply for Medicaid and WIC! I had both when I was pregnant. I was still in college, not married yet, and only had a part-time job. I too felt kinda guilty, but it is there for those who need it, and I needed it! It helps out a lot. I'm sure with WIC you would get more than I did since you have 2 other children. It gets you milk, cheese, eggs, etc, and even formula!
You feel you shouldn't be pregnant because you have to seek financial help?? Don't ever feel ashamed of accepting help in a well needed situation. The good thing about the prenatal medicaid is they truly want you to have a healthy prenancy, it's rather easy to apply and qualify for and you can receive excellent maternal care while pregnant with no expenses out of your pocket. PLUS your baby will automatically be covered the first year of life after being born with you having prenatal medicaid. DON'T feel ashamed of seeking financial help, trust me many many women need help with the cost of pregnancy and by you getting medicaid, it's not saying you'll be on goverment help the rest of your life. It's a temporary assistance, and even if you have to continue with your children having medicaid, then so be it. There's no shame in making sure your children are provided for, no matter what it takes to care for them.
The state wants you to have a healthy baby so get yourself on medicaid and start seeing an OBGYN ASAP to get yourself the right prenantal care. Once everythings said and done, you will know you made the right decision for you, your unborn baby and your family. Good luck to you and best wishes!
P.S. If you need a great OBGYN referral that accepts medicaid, I know of some GREAT ones so don't worry! : )
Do it, apply. The worse that can happen is they say no. We have insurance but it does not include maternity so we are paying out of pocket! It really is crazy how much it all adds up to be. I would try everything. I am 6 months pregnant and we are on a payment plan with the hospital, Quest for blood work, and we have to pay for ultrasounds too, again not cheap.
Good luck
If your husband is 100% disabled from the military, his dependents should be eligible for Tricare. My husband is disabled but also retired and we receive Tricare for a small amount each pay date that they automatically withhold. Otherwise, programs are meant to be helping hands and so don't delay and apply.
Many wishes for good health through your pregnancy!
Go to your Human Resources Department and apply and the sooner the better. Do not feel a shred of quilt about reaching out for help during your difficult period of time. Those benefits are there in place to help you ensure that you have a healthy pregnancy. God allowed you to become pregnant for a reason so don't feel like you should not be expecting again during a difficult time you and your family are going through. Sure things get difficult and hard but remember (What God brings you to He will bring you thru it.). He did not give us a guarantee that things would always be easy or stress free, but believe that there is a purpose for everything in life when it happens. I wish you and your family well. Also may your birth be a joyous one as well.
Um..anyone who has served in the military (and in my opinion being the wife of a military man TOTALLY counts!!) deserves help any time they need it! I say go for it. I would much rather my tax dollars go to helping your family, than some of the other people who use the government assistance. I think you should not only ask for the assistance, but have no shame abot it either. You absolutely deserve anything this country has to offer!!! I hope you find a great doctor and have a wonderful pregnancy..good luck!! ~A.~
apply for chip perinatal http://www.hhsc.state.tx.us/chip/perinatal/index.htm
yes there are a lot of people who need it but you need it too because you don't have no job and need the dr. also apply for wic it gives you benefits for you and your little kid until age of 5
I too was in the same sit. with my 3rd child. I had no ins. and sought any type of assistance. I enrolled into a "health discount plan" only to find that no hospital took it and I would be given a bigger discount w/out that so called card. Unfortunately, I paid $500 for the enrollment and 1st month, but it did me no good. I ended up applying for emergency medicaid. I felt awful, but I desperately could not afford to pocket the expense. It worked out. I only got it for the last 4 mos of my pregnancy. I also got on WIC but for only 2 mos after baby was born. I just couldnt keep doing that, I felt like I was above that, but in reality, it's there for people who are in similar situations, so get over the guilt or embarassment and just do it. Nobody has to know. It's your business so take care of you and yours...
There is nothing wrong with you applying for it and if you qualify WONDERFUL!!!!!! You need to do what is best for you and your family. That is what it is there for.
God bless!!!

You could definitely apply for assistance but you also have many options that you could look into.
You can negotiate with the hospital, doctors, etc. Health care providers and the hospital will often give you an uninsured discount. Of course, you would want to scale back, for example consider natural childbirth so you won't have to pay for the pain medication, anesthesiologist and so on.
If you have had uncomplicated births in the past and are comfortable with a birthing center or even a home birth that would bring a great reduction in the amount of money that you will spend for your delivery. I don't know if there are many midwives or birthing centers that deal with medicaid but it's worth a call to find out.
After your delivery, breastfeed! It's the best thing that you can do for the baby and it's such a benefit to the M. as well! It will cut down on the cost of formula and also doctor visits.
Please don't feel bad about asking for assistance! Everyone needs a little help with one thing or another now and again. Take time to relax and enjoy. Have a wonderful pregnancy and delivery! Congratulations!!!
