My daughter (2) has had asthma for 2 years. We have an attck every 4-6 weeks. We have avoided the hospital several times but get neamonia quite frequently. We are a homeopathic practice family but cant avoid antibiotics with her. She is allergic to penicillen and sulpha based drugs and is now developing an ammunity to other antibiotics. She takes two allergy medications, one decongestant, and breathing treatments everyday. Is there any better way to do this. We have heard of specialist but never seen one. Can anyone help us.

If you can afford it, you should see an allergist. You know she is allergic to penicillin, so it is likely she has other allergies. The allergist can test so you can avoid the allergens and then perhaps not take as much medication in the long run. We found out my son is allergic to all sorts of stuff and as long as we avoit it (like citrus, cats and dogs, etc) he has far fewer attacks.

You should definetley get her in to see a specialist. THis could be serious and a specialist is the one who can tell you exactly what you need to do. You should try to find one that is a pediatric specialist. Good Luck!

My son was the same way, always on alot of meds. and nothing was working so one day i asked for him to be allergy tested, found out he was allergic to alot of things, he has been taking the shots (weaning him off now) for 2 years, has only been sick 1-2 times a year, and only 1 asthma attack. I saw that you are trying to only do homeopathic meds, so i can tell you some things to do that might help. First remove ALL stuffed animals, then (if possible) carpet will help also, buy a zippered plastic cover for mattress, boxspring and pillow, also wipe down the walls once a week with hot water (no chemicals), wash all sheets and blankets in hot water, try to use as less of chemicals in the house to clean with as possible, no candles, or "spray" in the house (expecially the rooms she is in the most. It may help to get her allergy tested at least to see what she is allergic to, he was also allergic to some foods that i had no idea, such as milk, colas (coca cola, pepsi cola, rc cola, ect.), chocolate, his list goes on and on. I hope this helps you. Good Luck, any more questions just ask.

If you know what triggers the asthma, then removing the triggers from her environment will help decrease her asthma. Somethings that can trigger it are dust, so dusting very regularly, eliminating carpet, drapes, cloth couches and seats and such can help reduce those things. Plastic/allergy reducing covers on pillows and matresses can help too. (I know they have those at sleep experts - they aren't plastic, but they are treated to keep dustmites and such from building up in bed stuff. If you go to a specialist, he/she can help you figure out what is triggering her asthma and then you can eliminate those things. If anyone in your household smokes, that is something else that can trigger asthma flare ups as well...

GOod luck.

Hi J.! I am so sorry to hear what you daughter is going through! Poor little thing :o) Have you tried switching your household products? Getting the toxins and chemicals out of your house will definitely help. I have a really good friend and biz partner whose son has asthma. He had it really bad, hospitals, nose bleeds, etc. Since switching to better, safer products, he no longer has these issues.

If you'd like to hear how to get these products in your home and try them risk free...you can contact me.

Good luck!!!

J.,
It is really frustrating to have a sick child and one medicine always causes another side effect. I have a wellness business and the main thing I tell parents is to get their children off of dairy products (try rice milk), go natural and boost their immune system. Nothing has been proven to be better at this than Juice Plus. Check it out:

I have a line of products that you MUST get into your home! They will help SO MUCH with the asthma PLUS they're healthier and more economical than the products you get at the store. Part of the reason so many kids today get asthma is due to all of the toxins in the cleaning products in our homes. Email me and I'll tell you how you can get these into your home!

I agree with Deana O. Many of the toxins within our homes can trigger asthma, and a host of other diseases and ailments. Congestion, and restriction of the lungs causes labored breathing and wheezing and affects one out of every twelve people. Many are small children. Many times doctors will tell you that it is associated with airborne allergens and occasional food sensitivities, improvements can occur if we watch what we bring into our homes. I'm talking about our laundry supplies, cleaning supplies, and many other things that we spray in our homes or use on our bodies. Give Deana or myself a call and we can help you with ridding your home of toxins and help you make it a better, safer place not only for your daughter, but your whole entire family. There are several websites that you can look into that will help you.

Blessings
M.

Figuring out what her triggers are is key. I would recommend getting her tested for allergies. Foods, pets, and even chemicals are possible triggers.

My boys developed asthma before they were 2 years old. They didn't see any relief until we figured out through process of elimination that the preservatives & other chemicals in stuff we used around the house every day were their primary triggers. Once we switched over to using things without formaldehyde, ammonia, bleach, or phosphates, their asthma and eczema symptoms lessened immediately and were all but gone 3 weeks later. They haven't had an asthma attack in about a year and a half. Now I know many people whose allergies, asthma, eczema, and even migraines are triggered by chemicals. Most doctors, to my knowledge, don't readily offer this as a possible cause.

I'd really recommend taking a good hard look at the ingredients of the things you use around the house (laundry, cleaning, bath, body, etc). I'd be happy to tell you what has helped my boys so much. :)

Please go to a specialist. It could be something triggering these attacks that you haven't thought of, and it can damage her lungs.

The vaccine for pneumonia is a good idea but it only fights against a specific bacteria. Pneumonia can be caused by a virus too, and it won't help with that.

I feel your concern and you are justified in worrying. I'm very worried for you too. Take her to a specialist and identify this issue before it gets worse.

Ditto, Ditto... go to a specialist and find out what triggers her attacks! Then you can do more homeopathic treatments from there. If the triggers are airborne (more than likely) consider the Shaklee AirSource air purifier...for more information on that contact me and I'll share my Shaklee source with you! I have asthma and I have used the AirSource for almost a year and my condition has improved.

I use Dr. Deborah Fawcett in Southlake...she is AWESOME...call her office for advice on age specific treatments!

Consider removing stuffed dolls/animals, rugs, and dust catchers from your home.

Wishing you all a happy/healthy future! -sd

I've had it my whole life and so has my son. We get colds a lot and have attacks occassionally, but seeing a pediatric allergist helped us a lot.
When we started taking Singular daily it helped tremendously.
We have allergy meds daily, singular, pulmicort daily. Then, Xopenex and other steriods as needed.
You could also ask about the Pneumovax. I used to get pneumonia yearly and bronchitis a few times/year. In the 13 years since that vaccine came out, I've only had bronchitis a couple times. No pneumonia.

Finding out what the trigger is makes it a little more maneagable. My son is allergic to grass and cedar, amongst other things. So... I do my best to bathe him when we come in and do what I can to alleviate the symptoms, but I'm not keeping him inside. dust is a big one too. We are looking into an air purifier.
GOOD LUCK! IT's tiring and frustrating.
