No New Teeth for 6 Months

My son is 18 months old now. Right around his first birthday he had 2 front teeth at the bottom and 4 front teeth at the top. No new teeth since then. I've heard that some kids start teething really late. But I'm concerned because he started teething around 9 months and after his first birthday teething stoped. Is that normal also? Thanks for your responses.

Hi Andrea
I think it must be normal - my daughter got two bottom teeth around 7 months, then I saw absolutely nothing new until a few weeks ago, when one of her top teeth and another bottom one started pushing out (she is now 14 months). The doctor never said anything about it one way or the other.

Hey Andrea,

You have no need to worry. My son didn't have any teeth until his 1st bday. Then it was several months after the first 2 teeth before he got 2 more. He will be 2 next month & he still doesn't have a full set. I would always worry too. Even when their Dr. told me they were fine I still freaked out. They will come he just marches to his own tune. Not to that of others.

Andrea,

My daughter is 16 months old and HAS NO TEETH! Pediatrician isn't worried, and my sister is a dental hygienist...she said "they are stronger when they come in late"..... Both gums are swollen, anytime now!

I wouldn't worry about it!
