Hi J.,
My daughter attends Bright Beginnings ###-###-#### or ###-###-####. The school is excellent. It is located at 67th Ave and Happy Valley. It is actually out of the teacher's home. She was a teacher over at the Child Development Center at ASU West before ASU did their budget cuts and eliminated the program. Some of the teachers decided to continue the curriculum style - High Scope - and took it to their home. My daughter is starting her third and last year of pre-school and I can't say enough wonderful things about the program. It is licensed and certified. The teacher/child ratio is incredibly low so each child feels attended to and each teacher and assistant knows the personality and likes/dislikes of each child. Independent thinking, rationalization, problem solving and verbal expression are encouraged. My 4 yr old daughter can sit down with me and discuss a "situation" where we both need to compromise and "come up with a plan". The program also teaches emotions and how to understand them. Example, a child gets upset at something and throws a truck. The child is not mad at the truck but the anger is vented in that fashion. This program gets the child to address what he/she is really angry at and then come of with a plan to talk about and resolve the anger. I could go on and on about the program and the teachers.
Before the Child Development Center closed, it was a model for the Governor's office and received national recognition for its success with children. The teachers are responsible for this and again, I love the High Scope teaching method. My child is thriving.
I do know that the preschool year is starting August 17th and she does full and part-time schedules. They are very accomodating. The hours of operation are from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The program includes breakfast, lunch, and snack. The school provides all the food. They do rest time after lunch - cots are provided.
I do know that is it required that the child be potty trained.
I hope this info helps. Again, I can't say enough good things about the program.
Good Luck,
L.
