If you are looking for a true preschool (2-3 hours a day a couple of days a week) and not a daycare then you might want to try:

1. Parks and recreation for city of Glendale and Peoria...they might have some sort of preschool type thing a few mornings a week, or at least some fun classes.

2. Check your local school districts, some offer community preschool on the grade school campuses. My daughter went to one at Marshall Ranch elementry (55th Ave and Cactus).

3. When my kids were little we used to loan them to the high school child development classes for a two week preschool experience...

My daughter went to Work Of Heart at 77th Ave & Thunderbird. They are located at behind the church. It is a wonderful learning environment. My daughter was more than ready to start kindergarten after going there. She loved her teachers and the whole experience. The only down side for me was that I didn't have more children to take there :)

I run a great all day program at Imagine Bell Canyon located at I17 between Bell and Union Hills. We offer an all day Prek program for 3-4 year olds taught be degreed teachers and using one of the nations leading scientifically researched playbased curricula. The program meets best practice standards and Arizona Early Learning Standards.

Hi J.,

My daughter attends Bright Beginnings ###-###-#### or ###-###-####. The school is excellent. It is located at 67th Ave and Happy Valley. It is actually out of the teacher's home. She was a teacher over at the Child Development Center at ASU West before ASU did their budget cuts and eliminated the program. Some of the teachers decided to continue the curriculum style - High Scope - and took it to their home. My daughter is starting her third and last year of pre-school and I can't say enough wonderful things about the program. It is licensed and certified. The teacher/child ratio is incredibly low so each child feels attended to and each teacher and assistant knows the personality and likes/dislikes of each child. Independent thinking, rationalization, problem solving and verbal expression are encouraged. My 4 yr old daughter can sit down with me and discuss a "situation" where we both need to compromise and "come up with a plan". The program also teaches emotions and how to understand them. Example, a child gets upset at something and throws a truck. The child is not mad at the truck but the anger is vented in that fashion. This program gets the child to address what he/she is really angry at and then come of with a plan to talk about and resolve the anger. I could go on and on about the program and the teachers.

Before the Child Development Center closed, it was a model for the Governor's office and received national recognition for its success with children. The teachers are responsible for this and again, I love the High Scope teaching method. My child is thriving.

I do know that the preschool year is starting August 17th and she does full and part-time schedules. They are very accomodating. The hours of operation are from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The program includes breakfast, lunch, and snack. The school provides all the food. They do rest time after lunch - cots are provided.

I do know that is it required that the child be potty trained.

I hope this info helps. Again, I can't say enough good things about the program.

Good Luck,

L.

My kids went to Stepping Stones Preschool at 39th Dr. & Happy Valley. It is non-religious, although the space is rented from the church there. They have their own classrooms, garden, etc. My youngest is now going into 5th grade, so it has been a while since preschool. The phone number is ###-###-####. Most of the time they had a waiting list since it was highly recommended.
