Non Plastic Sippy Cups and Childrens Products

I think these look really nice. I'm adding them to my "want to buy" list for my 15 mo old daughter.

There is a brand of bottles called Born Free (sold online and at Whole Foods stores) that are made of a "safer" plastic. They have shown to NOT leach those harmful chemicals that so many of the current baby bottles and sippy cups on the market seem to do. I'm quite certain I remember reading that they also convert to sippy cups. They are on the expensive side (I think they're $10 for two) but worth it for your health! There are also a few kinds of plastic sippy cups on the market that have shown to be safer. You'll want to look for either "PVC Free" on the label or if you look in the recycle triangle on the bottom of the bottle, you'll want to see either a "1", "2", or "5". Anything else likely contains the harmful PVC. But still avoid heating anything in a plastic container or bowl (even if it is the safer plastic).

I am 100% with you on this...I use just about glass everything in my house. Born Free makes glass bottles, and makes plastic bottles made without biosphenol A, pthalates or PVC (all carcinogens). They do not make glass sippies but their plastic ones (sippies)also have no biosphenal A, phthalates or PVC. You can order them online or can get them at Whole Foods on Orchard Lake/14 Mile Rd.

Be sure to hand wash them with a non-abrasive sponge just to be safe.

Hi D., try Born Free, I know they have training cups. Evenflo has the no BPA bottles, they are cheaper, I am not sure if they have sippy cups. I researched that last night. You can find all of the info on Babies r us.com. They have the products that are BPA free! GOod luck.

Check out Kleen Kanteen. These are stainless steel bottles but you can use different tops on them. They have a sippy top that is the same as the Avent(??) sipper cups. You can interchange these with a screw on cap and sport top which I use. These are great bottles that I have had for over a year now and everyone in my family has their own that they take with them whenever we leave the house.

I am fairly certain it was in the past month or so (I get over four mags delivered to me in health and body reference, so please do not hold it against me).

The article also referenced SAFE plastic sippy cups as well as stainless steel. You may be able to find it. If I find where my mag is I will let you know! (It's somewhere either under my table or in my son's room as he likes it too and he still can't "read" yet, just likes the pics in them!).

I feel the same way. We used Gerber glass bottles to replace the Avent ones we had on hand. And we have Sigg water bottles (metal), they are Switzerland made & have even sizes for kids. As for going out, I bought a handful of "canning" or jam jars and use those for containers on the go. They've worked fine for us and my little girl has only broken one. She dropped it. If we do used plastic, I check and make sure it's #5. If the plastic has no number it's probably the bad kind. Great question...thanks for asking. I'm enjoying the resources from it. :o)

Hi, I agree with you 100%. check out www.kleankanteen.com. I don't know if they have sippy cups but they do carry stainless steal water bottles etc. A little expensive but we use ours all the time and no plastic bottles.

Google stainless steel sippy cups. Plenty of options out there. More and more companies now know folks don't want plastic. Go to this site too about how to buy the best cups.
