I am 29 weeks pregnant and will be having a c-section the early part of January. I need some help looking for a crib and dresser. I would also like to start looking for day care. Any advice on the furniture or where I might be able to find a consignment store. Also need referrals for day care.
11-6-08 Update... looking for daycare around Orange, Anaheim, Garden Grove, and Fullerton. (State College/Chapman and Brookhurst Commonwealth).
Thank you.
Thank you for everyone who responded. That was quick. I wasnt quite sure how this was going to work. My sister in law had me join mamasource right before I got pregnant and I am glad I did.
I received some advice about giving a location for where I need daycare. I live in Garden Grove and work in Orange. My husband works in Fullerton so any of these areas (State College/Chapman or Brookhurst/Commonwealth) would work. I look forward to more responses.
Thank you all again.

Hey N.,
If you call kidcare they will give you a list of licensed daycare providers in your area. I have had my own in-home family daycare for over 28 years, but I am in Anaheim. Decide if you want your daycare near your home, or office/job. The phone # is actually kid-care, ###-###-####. Good luck and God bless.

I am a daycare provider in the Lakewood/Long beach border and will have an opening after January of 09. Email me if you are interested.

Dear N., I am actually a home daycare in the city of WHittier. I believe that is too far for you and I am at my capacity of children currently but I do have 2 white cribs in which I was getting ready to place for sale on Craig's List...sorry I don't have a dresser though. If you are interested I could send you a photo on e-mail..if my daughter can instruct me how. Do you know the sex of your baby because the nicer crib of the two has a white rose embellishment on the center rail. Just let me know if you are interested. My e-mail is ____@____.com. Thank You, C.
I shopped around for furniture and ended up buying at Baby Depot (it's in Burlington Coat Factory). They had some that were good quality for a good price. It's worth checking out. I don't have any advice on daycare. You might want to re-post your question with a title that includes where you live to get more responses.
Where do you live? My daughter-in-law does day-care in the Long Beach/Los Alamitos area and she is the NICEST person that I have ever met. (She is licensed.) She is EXTREMELY kind and gentle and her son is the happiest child you have ever met. If she is in your area, interview her. Her name is Kathy ###-###-####.
Regarding furniture... I was at Target the other day and they had some beautiful stuff for a very reasonable price.
I'm partial to Bergstroms for baby furniture. Great selection, they actually know something about their product and their prices are competitve.
I live in South OC, so I can't help much on the daycare front, but good luck!

Craigslist. Maybe a little cautious on the crib but a dresser for sure. sometimes there's new cribs on there too. I've bought a ton of stuff on craigslist
Hi N., I dont know any consignment stores but I know a lot of people list items on Craigslist. Most items are used but people to tend to sell brand new items on there as well. I would start looking around now since you are getting further along in your pregnancy, plus even though a lot of these Craiglist ads have pictures, I am sure it would be best to check out the items in person. Good luck!
Hi N.,
I usually go to a place called Children's Orchard. It's a consignment store for children and they often have furniture. They have several locations in Southern California.
Hi N., I'm a licensed in home child care provide in La Mirada. I have been caring for children in my home for over 18 years now. Make sure you ask alot of questions when looking for care. Don't be afraid to ask for refrences and too visit early, I mean before you have the baby if you have time. Find out what they do during the day and if they go out. I love what I do and wont change it for any thing. I have three kids and have been able to stay home for them all. 18,16 and 10. As for nursery furniture I would look at babies r us or even Target has some nice stuff. My friend told me about a thrift store across from the La Habra Costo she said she found some nice stuff there. Good Luck T.
I actually just purchased a crib and dresser through Craig's List. They were in great condition and I got a reasonable price in the bargain. Have you tried that? There's tons of stuff on there.
Hi N.,
THere is a consignment store with locations in Cerritos and Los Alamitos called Inch by Inch. They have a wide range of baby items with reasonable prices!

My son (17 months) goes to Arbor Christian Church. They have a great school program. Corner of El Toro and Muirlands. Churches are a great place for day care, just make sure you attend service once or twice to make sure their style is in line with your needs.
Good luck
Have you tried Craigslist? I bought a really nice desk off of Craigslist for only $30 for my daughter's room (I'm still beaming about the deal).
