NW Suburban Working Moms Group

I don't know about anyone else, but a question for all you working moms - do you feel shunned by all the stay-at-home moms in your area? Have a hard time making friends and finding playgroups for your kids because all the stay-at-home moms are doing the "fun" stuff while you're at work?

I'd like to meet other local working moms. Working is part of who I am. I love being a mom, but feel I'm not only a mother, but so much more.

I feel like my kids have always gotten the shaft because my husband and I work and they can't be part of that after school playdate.

Also, I thought it would be fun to have a night a month to go to a movie with the girls or out to dinner or bowling with women that understand the delicate balance of working moms as a great way to exchange ideas, vents and blessings.

I also think a Saturday morning breakfast club would be fun too. Something everyone can fit into their schedules and still have time to get errands and fulfill obligations.

Would anybody be interested in this sort of thing?? Please email me if you are.

What can I do next?

Great idea. I would be interested in something like this as well. All of the moms in my neighborhood stay at home and a lot of my friends don't have children so I would love to meet others moms that also work. Let me know when something is planned.

this would be a great idea...ditto on your thoughts too regarding the disconnect between the two cultures of motherhood. Where are you thinking of meeting up? Thanks for posting the idea.

I would definitely be interested. We moved to the NW suburbs from the city and then got pregnant so 1) we don't have a lot of friends out this way to begin with, and 2) our neighborhood is full of large lots so not a lot of daily interaction among neighbors (and many are older), and 3) working moms and SAHMs are just different people. I would love to meet other working moms to discuss topics relevant to us as a group (like the guilt I sometimes feel at putting her in daycare so I can go work, etc.) Let me know when something is scheduled!
