We pop Airborne like candy. Okay like a fizzy, my point is they work.
EEK! My kiddos head back to school on Monday and my 9yr old is showing signs of a head cold...today the stuff was green (gag)!! Not severe enough where she's miserable- but a "juicy" cough, head pressure, stuffy nose.
My question: What do you do at the first sign/ early stages of a cold? Any natural remedies or mommy remedies you swear by?
Just curious :)
Thanks

I give the kids REAL Sudafed not the fake stuff.
The fake Sudafed (PE) does not work. It also makes my heart race.
Real Sudafed allows the goo to get runny and come out much easier.
I also use regular Tussin (Liquid expectorant NOT couch suppressant) from Walmart to help the goo in the lungs to get more moisture in it so it is easier to cough up. Before it gets infected it is coming up easier.
These things help the goo come out or come up much easier and they don't linger in the lungs or sinuses and get all infected. They just feel less pressure and it works it's way through.
If you use items that are for allergies they will dry the goo up and it will fester in the lungs and sinuses and get super infected. The runnier the better in this case.
Use a neti pot and warm saline to rinse out the nose.
Chicken soup never hurts.
Echinacea tea can help, too.
We drink Emergency at the first sign of colds or sickness, works like a charm! And they even make it in a kids kind and flavor too!
I have done both of the suggestions below me... Also, always drink plenty of water. Lay off sweets- they bring down the immune system.
