On the Brink of Walking....

My 10 month old has been standing for over a month now and seems ready to take her first steps alone soon. What shoes do you recommend? In the past she has managed to pull of all off her socks and shoes (I've tried many and have been disappointed) until I came across "me-in-mind" 'charlie sneakers'. They are great because they are flexible, soft-soled and have elastic in the back that keeps the shoe snug enough not to be pulled off. But I am searching for what else is out there...and shoes can be expensive for these fast growing feet. So help me out-- what are the best baby shoes for new walkers out there?

Pediatricians recommend that children be allowed to learn to walk barefoot or in soft shoes. I love Robeez because my son can't easily pull them off.

i'm sorry i just have to say it....it's just shoes, go to the shoe store and have her fitted... it's not hard, it's not rocket science!!

but she is too young- they should be taking 10 steps across a room alone unassisted before they wear real shoes..... right now use the bobux, or other soft shoes.....

Until she is actually walking, I wouldn't bother spending money on shoes. My little one (10 1/2 months) finds it easiest to take steps in bare feet or socks with grippies on the bottom (she doesn't slip!). Of course, if you're teaching her to walk outside where there might be something sharp she could step on, then go with the Robeez.

I love amazon.com for baby stuff because you usually get a great deal and free shipping

Have fun! Those first steps are SOOO cute!

I kept all my kids (5 of them) barefoot while they were learning how to walk. She'll be able to grip with her little toes if she's not wearing shoes. I believe it's better for them to not have shoes when they're just learning.
Have fun with your little sweetie!

Hello M.,

If you are interested, I sell Squeeky Shoes which help encourage head toe walking and are great for a cause and effect for the new walkers. They are $30.00 and come in sizes 4-8. I am in Burbank. Have a great day!

Hi M.. I have a 2.5 year old and a 14 month old baby girls. I tried all shoes that exist in this planet but there's only one brand that's easy to put on, stays on, and comfortable for my babies' feet. I use only Robeez shoes for pre-walkers. I've done my research and babies need to feel the ground when they walk. Other shoes that have padding don't do this and they don't walk the proper way, according to the many foot expers out there. When my older daughter turned 2, and by then she's an expert walker/runner, I switched to Padoodles or See Kai Run shoes which has padding so she doesn't stub her toes. But, for infants or pre-walkers, don't waste your money on anything else but Robeez shoes.

They say whenever possible to have them in bare feet or socks. Whatever you do don't put the baby in hard soled shoes yet. But Robeez are what I found best for new walkers. If you look around you can find them on sale.

Hello M.!~

CONGRATS on your little walker!!! :)

It is important that you get a soft soled flexible shoe (of course barefoot is BEST!)

I highly recommend

PediPeds
http://www.pediped.com/Home/Home.aspx

or

Robeez
http://www.robeez.com/EN-US/default.htm

They are both excellent shoes and will not impede in any way your babies foot development~ If you are going to be on HARD or COLD surfaces than you can try a harder soled shoe.... otherwise I would stear clear and stick to the SOFT soles.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!
