Hi'ya mamas,

Let's say I'm in my late fifties, live in the North West, am smart, sexy, accomplished, traveled, professional, creative, active, etc.
What dating site would you recommend I use? What other single's activities/organizations would be worth checking out? What IS dating like these days, especially for a woman whose children are grown, whose career is stimulating, whose social circle strong, whose looking for her equal and probably not marriage, etc.?

Tips? Stories? Cautions?
TIA

What can I do next?

Oy.
My boss has been doing the online dating thing. Why, I don't know. She's a very successful business woman who is very well known and involved in the community.
Another reason I don't understand....she hasn't found anyone.
She said the only thing she has really learned is that all the guys lie.

I know people who have found matches, but I know more people who have found headaches. I personally would never do online dating. But that's just me.
Dating at an older age can be very difficult. I'm not in my late fifties, but there's not a lot to choose from even at my age.
I'm too busy with work and my kids and grandson to even think about dating. I still have a kid at home to finish raising.
I'm fine with it.

Getting involved with the Chamber of Commerce can be a good way to meet people. In my area, they have mixers sponsored by local businesses and tons of people attend them, mostly business people who meet to get to know each other, exchange business cards and network.
I never go. I just want to get home after work, but they sound really fun.

Just a suggestion.

Oh ephie---

Clearly you are 'looking' for a friend...or colleague....

I am wondering if your kindness 'knows no bounds' :)

Your friend is 'older' than me...but not so much.

I would recommend a class that 'she' would be interested in any case...

Perhaps something from 'meet up' in her area...where people with similar interests connect...in a 'non' romantic way.

I 'hear' your friend...and her desire to 'not look for marriage'...some women...younger ones in particular...seem not to understand...

***sigh***

I wish you both luck...
You seem such a 'good' soul.

I only know from friends... the professional crowd..."Oh, I met him on Match."

Match this, Match that... it's becoming WEIRD for people to meet NOT on Match.com.

My east coast friends (DC area, mostly) keep a "burner phone" / aka pay as you go cellphone in addition to their regular cell PURELY to use with dating on Match. That way, if you run across a creep, you just ditch your phone, and no worries. Similarly, they usually meet somewhere public and "nice" first. AKA a restaurant or cafe.

I hear plenty of fish is the best one. My sister met her current boyfriend on there. My mom met her husband of almost twelve hears on eharmony. And my grandma (age 65) met her boyfriend on there just recently. Always stay cautious and meet in a public place. Other than that, have fun.

Have you ever tried MeetUp.com for good local activities?

There's some kind of Nordic Ski Club or something like that in Portland. I think the way my cousin did it was pretty cool. She was a Kiwanis member and that was a comfortable way for her to socialize and see if there was someone she connected to while also doing things she enjoyed. She met a wonderful man and they've been married for a while now very happily.

I used a site named PlentyofFish.com I met my husband on this site and we've been married almost 3 years and have two boys together. Dating can be what you want it to be, plentyoffish is great lol it's for ages 18 and up. :) and it's free. :)

''Let's Say''...my dear dear friend is there something I have missed?

Just kidding......Hahahahaha.....

NOT FACEBOOK...

That is my only advice....I just had to do a double take when reading your first line....Then I had to make sure that it was not some one who hijacked your account...Or my confusion:)

Keep warm...How much snow did you get? Our yard has about 8 inches....The boys have been making a full size igloo in our front yard with the neighbor kids....I have never seen this much snow!!
