Online Savings Accounts

Hi - I was hoping I could receive some recommendations for online savings accounts that have a higher interest rate than the below 1% I'm currently receiving from my bank! I'm somewhat skeptical on the online savings only, but have heard the interest rates are much more lucrative. Any suggestions on sites would be appreciated. Thanks!

You can get some great info from Bankrate.com under the link for checking/savings. I use the site all the time to compare rates and get advice. I have heard great things about ING as well.

I use ING direct. It is very convenient. I am not sure if the rate is higher than what you asked but we don't have alot in there. I can set it up to take a certain amount out of our checking account each time we get paid and then the money isn't there to tempt me. Good luck!

ING :-)
as the other say. I am nbanking with them for about 10 years now. Easy online access. I can refer you and if you deposit a starting balance of $250 you will get $25 from them as a new customer.

Rates are as follows for savings:
1.30% Annual Percentage Yield
and for checking account:
$0 - $49,999.99 0.24% 0.25% 09/09/2009
$50,000.00 - $99,999.99 1.48% 1.50% 09/09/2009
$100,000.00 or more 1.53% 1.55% 09/09/2009

If you happen to find a better bank - which I doubt - please share.

Hello,
We have online savings accounts for ourselves and our daughter and the interest is much better than at our local bank; it fluctuates, of course (it was 2.75 when we started a year ago and is 1.4 now!), but is still better than the bank. We went with ing (I think it's ingdirect.com), because a friend used them for savings and CDs, and because their customer service is really great. I don't know if they have the best rates, but the personal recommendation and service won out for me.
It's also easy enough to transfer money from our checking to the savings, and takes about 2 days to get the money out (if you need it).
Hope that helps!
Jen

Have used HSBC online for well over 2 years. No problems in that time. Interest rates are not good anywhere, but these are better than local banks.

ING Direct. We've had an accound with them for a while now, I think 5 years or so. The interest rate was at 4.5% when we started and it keeps going down and up. It's down now, but still better then regular banks. It's a good bank and in good standing, not going bankrupt as of yet like a lot of banks these days. It's safe and secure and we like it.
