I am looking for organic sunscreen, and more importantly, something that won't burn my son's eyes if the screen gets in them. Any suggestions?

Hi Kim,

I found a website carenonline.com that specializes in all organic skin care. It has soaps, sunscreens, lotions, etc... I just ordered one of the sunscreens to try. My 9 year old is very sun sensitive, so I thought maybe this would be stronger for him, and better for him also. Since sunscreen is absorbed into the body, I thought that the organic element could only be a plus!!!

California Baby is the brand of organic sun screen that I use. It smells nice too. I actually use a few of their product (soap and things). They have bug repellent also mixed with the sun screen that I like too. Good luck...K.

Burts Bees makes an Organic one that can be found at Target and most chain stores.
I was in Florida a few weeks ago. I used Coppertone 50spf uva/uvb in a continous spray form (came out clear) awesome, no tan lines, nothing at all! No burn not even a little andit was 96 and sunny! I already have a decent tan and always burn in florida. I thought sunscreen was one of those things that you kind of need the chemicals and it is hard to make an effective organic one...

Kim,

Last year my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer which caused me to become more aware of the products I was using on my skin as well as the food that I was eating. I was appauled when I learned about the terrible things in our over the counter products. I learned about a vegan certified company called Arbonne International. They pride themselves in being pure, safe and beneficial with no harmful product ingredients. They have a baby Sunscreen that I now use on my children. It is very reasonable priced and a little goes a really long way. It also is opthamologist tested, tear free, peanut free and gluten free. It is all that I use on my kids now. Once last summer I was at a friends house and needed more sunscreen for my 7 year olds back so I used their children's spray lotion and my sone screamed that it burned. It was the alcohol in the ingredients. That proved to me that I would never use anything else again. Let me know if you would like to try some. You can reach me at ____@____.com!

Sincerely,

S.~

I market healthy plant based products for parents of children who have sensitive dry, or itchy skin, like my kids do.

The product line contains a sunscreen that is water resistant, PABA free, pediatrician and dermatologist tested and provides broad-spectrum protection from UVA and UVB rays. It is formulated with antioxidant vitamins A, C, and E and gental botanicals.

It does say on the bottle, "do not get into eyes when using this product", and recommends that you "rise with water if contact occurrs with eyes."

I recommend avoiding the eyes when applying it, but I was curious, so I just massaged the sunscreen around my eye to see if it burned and it does not burn my eye.

I don't know if this sunscreen will work for your son like it has for my kids, but I would be happy to send you a free sample pack if you'd like to try it.

Hi Kim, I have to second the mercola summer survival kit, I just received the email also and ordered the kit, if you would like you can message me your email address and I will forward it to you. I have never used it but I do trust that website. Dr. Mercola does seem to go little "overboard" with some issues, but these do seem like really good products, you will see for yourself.

Last year, my family and I were down in Florida. We picked up this sunscreen by "Absolutely Natural". It was sold at the hotel that we were at. I thought it was too expensive but the salesman was convincing and, what the heck, we bought a bottle of SPF 15 and their "after sun" product. Now, I won't use anything else! They sell many different SPF's and we swear by their after-sun product (we were formerly Solarcaine and aloe vera users!) which -after my husband got a terrible sunburn in Florida. He had applied a store-bought sun screen all day! Their "after sun" is an incredible product! They run specials - you can check their website www.suncarecentral.com or call 1-866-847-2826. Hope this helps! Good luck!

We use Burt's Bees sunscreen, and it's wonderful. It even has that super cool 1980's cocoa butter tanning oil smell, which I love.

Hi Kim,
We use Caliornia Baby suncreeen products and I really like them. Never had any complaints about stinging eyes. I use the suncreen stick on their faces. The products can be a little pricey but most organics are. I order at www.californiababy.com Hope this helps!
