Orthodontist Wanted

M.G. asks from Bolingbrook, IL

I am looking for an orthodontist who is good with kids. My 7 year-old has some issues with her teeth that my own mother, who has worked in Michigan for an orthodontist for 18 years, has pointed out to me. It would be nice to fix some minor thing to decrease the time she'll probably have to wear braces later. I'd like to find an ortho in Naperville or Bolingbrook.

What can I do next?

Dr. Stephen Hertzberg, DDS, 29 S. Webster, Naperville, 630/420-8600. He and his staff are wonderful with kids. Both my girls went to him. My younger one had teeth on top of teeth. From her first impression to the final one, you would never know it was the same kid. My older one never developed the two permanent teeth on each side of her front two teeth. Dr. Hertzberg moved her eye teeth over. Now both girls have beautiful smiles.

Our family goes to Grove Dental in Bolingbrook. My daughter is only three, so I don't know how they are with older children. But, we LOVE them there. They are wonderful. I am sorry I don't know the phone number.

I'd start with asking your pediatrician first, to see who they can recommend. My son's (he's 3 1/2) pediatrician recommended a wonderful children's dentist to us when he was two. It's a bit of a drive, but I don't mind it - it's only twice a year. = )

Good Luck!

I go to Dr. McMullen on Naperville-Plainfield Road (next to Traverso's restaurant). Most of the other people are teens. I haven't seen any elementary age kids there. I stopped wearing my retainer in my early 20s and then after the kids my teeth started to move back again. I just needed a new retainer, not braces.

We also use Dr. McMullen at 2547 Plainfield-Naperville Rd. in Naperville. He has been seeing my son (now 10) for a few years and now has to see my daughter who is 8 and my other son who is 12. I guess all of my kids inherited the crooked teeth gene! Anyway, we really like Dr. McMullen. He is very kind to the kids and goes out of his way to put them at ease. I also really like that he encourages the parents to come back and see what he is doing. I'd highly recommend him.
Good luck!
