Steve came back?!!!
This is what happens when the kids grow up. I am so out of the Blue's Clues loop :(
I know I'm not the only parent who does this, but people who DON'T spend all day watching Nick Jr and Disney Jr, just don't get it. Any more crazy theories you'd like to add?
Max & Ruby: Their parents died, and Ruby is too young to legally be Max's caregiver, so Grandma is covering for them to keep the kids from going into foster care.
Jake & the Neverland Pirates: Captain Hook is actually Jake's dad. Only Hook & Smee know.
Blue's Clues: Steve was hooking up with Miranda (Magenta's human) until he went off to college, then she & Joe had a thing, hence the awkwardness between them when Steve came back.
Yo Gabba Gabba: DJ Lance was neglected as a child, and the characters in the show represent the toys that he played with alone every day. He also developed a God Complex, hence the bare white room and his ability to bring the creatures to life and control everything.
(Not mine) Spongebob and the lot are the results of nuclear testing. Bikini Atoll = Bikini Bottom?
Also, my husband & I disagree over Imagination Movers, which of them is Nina hooking up with? I say Smitty, he says Rich.
I LOVE YOU GUYS! Thanks for all the amazing replies, I am laughing so hard. Keep them coming!

Oh my gosh this post is awesome. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who has wondered where the hell Max & Ruby's parents were... Poor Grandma!
Come on Smitty or Rich? Try all 4, have you ever noticed how well those guys take turns? lol
World Word
Duck - He seems to be the product of a poor upbringing. He lives in a nest not a house or anything really similar to a house, like the rest of them. He also seems to be the most uneducated one.
Frog- He's a slum lord. He lives in a nice uptown log while he makes the bugs live in the mailbox.
Sheep - She's the token crazy person. She spends most of her time pretending to be something else.
Bear - She's the survivalist. You don't see her often and she lives in a cave. I think that if there really was a zombie uprising she would be the one to survive.
Pig - He's the middle class average guy, however I think he might be a closet bulimic. I mean he eats all the time, and all this junk food and never gains any weight.
Dog - He's God in Word World. Think about it....he is the one that creates the others in the beginning of the show. He lives in the biggest house. He doesn't actually talk so he sometimes is misunderstood...and what do you get when you spell dog backwards? Case closed
The people that live in Curious George's city are really stupid. I mean seriously, who asks a monkey to take over their jobs, even for a little bit?
Why does the mom's from The Cat in the Hat just let their kids run off randomly with some six foot cat? Aren't they just a little bit concerned about that?
Oh and that kid Elliot? Yeah that one has some serious ADD and schizophrenic tendencies. I feel SO sorry for that kids parents.
I can do this all day. I'm SO glad someone else does too. :)
OMG you guys are cracking me up.
I always thought Caillou has Alopecia (the one where people don't grow hair on their body, ever) and Rosie is developmentally delayed. Thats why their parents treat them with such condescending patience, because they feel bad for them. And it seriously bothers me about "The Man With the Yellow Hat". Its so creepy. I assumed he was a zookeeper? But yeah you don't see many zookeepers with convertibles do you... I also get creeped out by Dave, of Alvin and the Chipmunks. Like really, he is just a creepy guy housing a bunch of dancing rodents, and talking to them, getting angry with them... like he has all this repressed anger built up from some incident in his past and the helpless chipmunks (particularly Alvin) are the "safe objects" at which to project his anger.
Ok and this one goes back but what about Muppet Babies? I always pictured Nanny as some old lady in her nursing home with dementia who would check on and talk to her old stuffed animals in the bottom of her closet.
I remember when our daughter was 4 she asked, "why all of the mothers were dead on TV?"
She also said she was "glad her dad was smarter than the dads on TV"..
What, exactly, is the Man in the Yellow Hat's job? That's what I would like to know. He occasionally has something to write for a museum...but he lives in a highrise in what appears to be a city similar to New York and ALSO owns a nice house and land in the country, and a convertible...so...where's the money coming from?
Does Caillou have cancer?
Has anyone else noticed that in Maisy (the books, at least; never saw the TV show) the crocodile's mouth is always outined in RED? We figured it was blood from whatever creatures he was eating when we weren't seeing him. Look out, Maisy.
Great posts. Sorry I missed the return of Steve to Blue's Clues. The real Steve went off and formed a rock band....Did he come back and throw that usurper Joe out of his house, and sue Joe for alienating Blue from him?
Actually, I think Yo Gabba Gabba has a 1970s complex. I never even saw that show until last summer.
Blues Clues, when did Steve come back? We must have missed that one. Must have been after my 13 yr olds grew out of it.
I think you are bang on with Max and Ruby. I didn't know that Steve ever returned to Blues Clues. I missed him when he left. I think there was some heavy drug use involved in the creation of Spongebob. My kids are too old to have watched the other shows.
I remember Caillou! I used to tell my girls that he needed a good swat on the butt. Can't stand all that whining! Lol!
Shhh, I used to think Steve was kinda cute but don't tell anyone hee hee!
Oh yeah, and that Wiggles guy with the side burns, my cousin and I both thought he was hot! :)
This is my favorite post of the week! I am going home to watch cartoons so I will be in the loop.
Tell me more about spongebob because my daughter loves to watch him.
Hahaha! Love it!
Sorry, but I have to go with your husband -- Nina is totally with Rich. (If I were her I would go for Dave, but there's no accounting for taste.)
What about Charlie and Lola's parents? They mention them, but we never SEE them. Maybe they are hideously deformed?
LOL!!!
So funny, and I totally agree with them all ;-)
Nina is too hot for Smitty--Rich is her same hotness level.
I also wondered about Max and Rubys parents too! I also want to know why Baby Huffington doesn't have a 1st name :)
Caillou needs some discipline for all of his whining- I wouldn't put up with it! Yo Gabba Gabba-Brobee's arms freak me out too and notice he is the only one who's mouth turns from sad to happy. Gooble is the white crying sad creature in some of the Yo Gabba shows and he is just weird. DD is on a Wiggles kick now- she is 20 months and we go back and forth between the old Wiggles with Greg (which is what my 8 year old watched when she was a toddler) and Sam. Anthony (Blue Wiggle) is such a show off now and it's sometimes hard to watch. I do prefer the Wiggles with Greg.
Last night DH and I were watching an older episode of 30 Rock where Jenna tries to break up the Woggles (a kids band very similar to the Wiggles) and I couldn't stop laughing!
Thanks for the laughs!
I love this post.
So on the topic of Maisy. My favorite episode - just after the one where Cyril pees in the sandbox - is the one where Charlie, the village idiot crocadile, invites Maisy over for lunch. But what's this? Surprise! Charlie doesn't have any food!!! So Maisy and Charlie go to the store. Charlie, of course, realizing this is his free ticket to groceries for the week, goes after the donuts and junk. And in the end, Maisy PAYS FOR IT. What the hell? And I think she makes lunch too. Sucker!!!
I never thought about the DJ Lance God complex before! Good insight! He 'makes it rain' too, you know.
Nina gets with all them!!! Duh! This is the best post!
and the little train that could is about socialism, the wizard of oz foretold going off the gold standard and Ashes, Ashes we all fall down refers to death and cremations during the Plague.
All of these are created by humans - humans who draw off of their own experiences and world-views.
I doubt they did it on purpose (maybe a few), but at some point we as human viewers will also draw parallels to our own experiences and world-views.
To all of which I say - mmhm.

thought of another - Smurfs.
Smurfette isn't the queen....so is she working a profession with the all male smurfs?
I heard one about rug rats that was disturbing, and that the characters on spondgebob are supposed to represent the 7 deadly sins.
Since we started watching Gaspard and Lisa I have wondered just what the heck are they. Are they bears, rabbits, dogs are a combination of different animals. I can't figure that one out.
Does Ni Hao Kai Lan live with her Grandfather or does she have parents?
Like the rest of you I want to know about Max and Ruby's parents. I think they should be charged with neglect for leaving them alone and for making Ruby take care of Max. Max needs a good spanking and Ruby is too young to give it to him.
Too friggin' funny!!!! I love it!
My kids are all older now, but I used to do this when they would watch these shows. I'm so glad to know I'm not the only one!
Hahhahahahahahahaha!
Perfect!
~Charlie & Lola?
You never see the parents on this show either? One time the 'Dad' takes them to the store to get Lola some shoes but you never see him...what's up with them?
