Hubby and I have been on and off trying for baby #2 this past year. For baby #1, I charted and took my temp each day to figure out my cycle (and it only took me 2 cycles to become pregnant this way after 7 months of just guessing without charting). This time around, I just don't have time to take my temp each morning and chart...was thinking of trying an ovulation predictor kit. Any suggestion the use of these predictor kits and any preference to which brand to use? Thanks!
Thanks for all the great input. I went ahead and got the target brand kits and just started using them. Wish me luck!

You don't need to spend a ton of money or time on this. Go to:
http://www.early-pregnancy-tests.com/
Just get some ovulation test strips and start testing your urine. I got about 20 of these, but ended up only using one. I thought it was too late in my cycle the first time I did this, but the test showed me I was wrong. One test strip and now my baby should be popping out any day now.
Also, while you're buying the ovulation test strips, get some pregnancy test strips. They are ridiculously cheap vs buying a pregnancy test at the drugstore. If I hadn't bought my test strips online, I would have spent hundreds of dollars on pregnancy tests since my husband couldn't believe that we got pregnant so quickly!
Good luck!

use the cheapest ones in the drug store as i did. works like a charm. they are all the same. buy duane reade or rite aide whichever. preg on my first try both times.
I buy mine from a guy online, on ebay actually. It comes in a kit of 20 ovulation strips and 5 pregnancy test strips, with the buy it now option, its 9.99, plus 2.99 S&H. Thats a total of $12.98 for 25 strips, so its about .52 per strip. You cant find that price anywhere! Its definitely the most bang for your buck. And while they arent brand name, I have been using them for almost 3 years on and off between pregnancies and have never had an issue. I love him, his prices are VERY reasonable and he ships VERY quickly. Here is his link.

Good luck, and if you need anything else, let me know!
Good luck with TTC!! It is frustrating to say the least! I tried ovulite (you put your saliva on it 1st thing in the morning) and really paid attention to my body and CM. I never had a normal cycle after my 1st was born but the above helped me. I wish you the best!
Hi,
I used the ones they sell right over the counter at the drug store. They would be right next to the home pregnancy tests. I forget the brand but it's like CLear Blue Easy or First Response and they give purple indicator stripes. They worked like a charm for me and two of my friends that I recommended them to. GL!
I did the first response(i think) pee on stick kit... I did the new 20 day one(got it on drugstore.com). I wasn't ovulating regular since i had stopped breast feeding and wanted to make sure i still was. I had been trying for a few months however once i did the predicter kit i got pregnant immediately. the 20 day one is great for those who don't have a regular schedule . Good luck!!!
I used one to get pregnant with my son and it worked great. You do have to have some idea of when you think you might ovulate. But it worked great. In two months I was pregnant.
I used First Response ovulation tests to conceive both my babies. Before I became a mom, I actually worked for the company that makes it and it is a great product. I didn't have very good luck with Answer brand - used it one month and according to that test, I never ovulated.
You test daily with First Response during your expected ovulation window, and once you get the dark test line, stop testing. I don't know about any other brands but with First Response you ovulate the first day you get the dark test line and if you keep testing, you'll continue to get dark test lines but obviously are no longer ovulating. Good luck!
I have used First Response and I love these and I have used then 2 x's and got pregnant each time 1 shot deal.
I was tring with the temp. and chart for 5 months until I did these tests and bam we were pregnant. We also just got pregnant w/ #3 doing the same thing Bam 1 mo. trying. I am not saying that everyone gets this lucky. I am a fertile mertle as long as the timing is right.
Good luck! Have fun.
HI C.,
I used the clear blue easy (pee on a stick) that gives you the best 2 days to conceive(with a smiley face). It worked like a charm for me I was pregnant after the first month (much to my husbands disappointment) heheheh. Anyway, I will probably use it again to try for baby #2 at the end of this summer. Best of luck on getting preggers and keep us posted!!!!!
Hi C.,
I used the clearblue 30 day sticks it took 3 months because I was trying for the boy the closer you are to your ovulation the better the chances of having a boy. My SON is 17 months now. :) Good Luck! :)
Funny... but true. I used the ovulation predictor from the dollar store!!!! I also used their pregnancy tests and they all worked!!!! We tried to conceive for over 7 years and we were told to use the ovulation predictor to determine if I was ovulating as it was a holiday weekend, it came back I was and we enjoyed the weekend and went in Monday for an IUI and it worked, I took 3 of the pregnancy test just to be sure!!! We now have 2 additional bundles of joy (we got lucky with the third).
Good Luck!
I use First Response and they work great! My fertility doctor (we've been trying for 2 years, but ovulation is not the problem) recommends NOT using the digital ones - he says they are not worth the money they charge for them! That the non-digital ones work even better. The cheap tests you can buy online that someone mentioned work great too!
A GREAT website is www.peeonastick.com!! They answer any question you could possibly have about ovulation and pregnancy tests! Plus they compare brands and their sensetivites.
My sister-in-law has used the expensive fertility monitor because her cycles are all over the place, so she said for her it was worth it, but for me the individual strips have been enough! My doctor has me start testing on day 10 of my cycle and that's always worked for me (my ovulation is usually between day 14 and 17).
I temp and chart too (on months that i feel like it) and the ovulation tests always correlate to the chart... also i have ultrasounds with my doctor that confirm ovulation... so those tests really seem to work perfectly!
Hope that helps a bit! Good luck!!!
If your cycles are regular you can use this website to help you out. I used it for both my kids and it worked like a charm. www.babycenter.com Then go to the ovulation calculator. You put in your information and it will tell you the 10-14 day window when your most likely to get pregnant. It also gives you when you should do it for the next 6 mos. Whatever date it gives you, I would "try" every other day during that window. With my son I worked the first month. With my daughter, it took 3 days. Anyway, you may want to start here, as those ovulation kits can get expensive month after month.
I used the Clear blue easy fertility monitor, it is expensive for worth every penny. I conceived the second month I used it. My friend also borrowed it and same results with her. It actually monitors you about everyday and tell you when you should start having sex for conception. I swear by it. Good luck and in the mean time have fun trying :o).
