I had my daughter 18 months ago by emergency C Section. I have noticed that my scar is STILL tender to touch. I can lightly touch it but when adding any pressure to it hurts a lot. Is this normal or ever happened to any of you, does it go away??

What can I do next?

Well, your scar sounds a little more sensetive than mine. My youngest is 2.5 but I had 2 sections and the second was badly infected and took a long time to heal. If I pull, stretch or push on the scar it will hurt some (not "a lot"). Light pressure like most clothing is fine. Mine has been about like this for a long time, probably more than a year now. If you concerned or it is getting worse check with your doctor.

Mine hurt terribly for about 6 months. I would have to make sure not to over-exert myself, or I'd have to lie down for awhile. Now that it's been almost 4 years, it is really just the external part that is irritable - I can't wear bikini underwear because it hits right along that line. I would mention it to your dr as they will probably ask more in depth questions, but while I would say we are in the minority, I definitely know others who have said it took years to recover. Good thing our kids are worth it!

Mine was tender for a long time. Remember there were several layers that were cut through and you've got multiple layers of scar tissue now. It also "pulls" funny in different positions......double check with your doctor on your next visit, but I would say it's normal....

Congratulations on your little one!

I had surgery over two months ago now...Yes, it is not as long as 18 months, but it is still pretty tender around all the scars and I have four of them. I was told they could feel tender to the touch randomly....I expected that:(

I had my c-section almost 2 years ago (June 27th) and my scar has always been sensitive. Now it does not hurt much, however sometimes if too much pressure is put on it , it hurts a little bit. Also the sensation down there seems different than it used to be- just how it feels when I put my hand against it feels different than it would have before the c-section. When you have a c-section- your muscles and nerves and everything there get cut- so things will never be exactly the same. I have noticed a significant improvement in the sensation over time though. I remember when my daughter was just a few months, having this discussion with my mum and it has definitely improved since then. However, if it hurts really bad I would look into it.
