Pain in Groin Area

In May 2008, I delivered my second child naturally. After giving birth, I experience extreme pain in my groin area. Slowly after time, the pain lessened and went away though it would reappear. I assumed I must have damaged the muscles down there while giving birth and that it would go away forever after time. Well, it has been two years and I still ge the pain. I get it most after I have done a lot that day like housework, exercise, carry my kids a lot, etc. It can be extremely painful at times. Has anyone else ever experienced this? Does anyone have any suggestions how I can have it go away for good? Do you think I should talk to my doctor about this?

What can I do next?

You may have a pinched nerve or ur hip has slipped alittle bit and u should see a chiropractor. I get the same thing and I go to my chiropactor a few time a year and I feel much better and I am more active. My girls see him as well they have been adjusted since they were babies. I noticed getting adjusted helps many other things as well such as... head aches, bowl movements, tention, and even sinius colds ( Now that hurts and don't recommend that so much!!) but it really helped the 1 TIME I had it done. For the girls it helped them as babies with Ear infections, their bowl movements, and even if they were REALLY gassy. And now that they are active in sports it helps them not to cramp up and stretch better.

Maybe u should do low impact exercise for awhile and try to bend at the knees not at the hips or back that helps me with the pain.

But I DO think u should do you homework before you go to see any chiropractor. Exspecially if you have any health issues or bone disorders. There are some that specializes it certain things.
I Hope this Help you out in Some Way.

You should absolutely talk to your doctor about this. Most likely you strained a muscle or sprained a joint while giving birth, and it needs to be addressed or it will not go away. There are physical therapists who specialize in pre/post natal treatment and can help you rehabilitate this injury.

Yes you should bring it up with your doctor. No one should have unexplained pain for 2 years and not discuss it with a professional. There could be some simple diagnostics done, and a number of therapies to choose from. Absolutely get it checked out. You've received a lot of suggestions here about what it could be, but there's no way to know until you are evaluated. Then you can choose the proper course of treatment. If you don't like your doctor's answer, always know that you can/should get a 2nd opinion. Alternative therapies are options too - chiropractic and acupuncture are just two that come to mind.

Go to the Doctor, and see if you have a Hernia.
that is what it sounds like to me.
A Hernia... comes and goes. That is its trademark symptom.
There are many different kinds of Hernias.
My daughter had one.
And yes, after any hard work/lifting/exercise/carrying heavy kids... it can get worse. IF you have a hernia, you should not be doing these things.
A Hernia, ideally, will be surgically fixed. Some say it will 'close up' by itself... but that is not a guarantee. It can get worse of have complications that is called "strangulation."

Just my guess. Hernia.
All the best,
Susan

Where exactly is it in the groin? When I had my second child, I pulled the symphysis pubis, which is the ligament that holds two halves of the pelvis together in the front. It took quite a while for the pain to go away completely, like about 2 years or so I think, and it still gets twingy every now and then, though it came back when I was pregnant with my third. Chiropractic care helped a lot, particularly during my third pregnancy -- there's a chiropractor in Acton who specializes in pelvic issues -- let me know if you want his contact info. While I was pregnant with #3, my midwife also suggested tying a long strip of cloth tightly around my hips to help stablilze the pelvis, which also helped.

You should definitely see your doctor to rule out anything more serious though.

I'm not sure what you mean by "groin", but if you literally mean right up in you - it could be a separated pubis synthesis. It sucks and 2 years is a long time to wait. That probably means it hasn't healed properly.
I'm a mom who had it happen with my 2nd, but due to a fall at the end of my pregnancy. I'm also a massage therapist who knows a lot about this and my husband is studying osteopathy and has been able to treat me quite well - after a solid year of pain.

I highly recommend you go in and talk to your OBGYN/Midwife either way. IF it ends up being your confirmed diagnosis it will, unfortunately, mean getting some regular work done with either a physical therapist who is familiar with this type of pelvis work or (preferably) if you could find a D.O. that specifically does manual therapy.
Necessary for your over all wellness (anything that lasts years and goes untreated will eventually begin to effect function elsewhere) and if you were to have another child - you could really hurt yourself.

In the mean time - be sure to stretch often.
If there is anything else I can do to help, please feel free to message me :)

hope it works out and is an easy solution.

You should bring this matter up with your doctor. I can think of a number of possible reasons why you may be experiencing this pain but it's best not to speculate sometimes because it can end up causing you a lot of unnecessary angst or, on the flip side, cause you to be dismissive of something that really warrants a professional opinion.

Hope you get the answer you need and are living a pain-free life very soon.

Yes, you should bring it up with your doctor.
The first thing that comes to my mind is a femoral hernia. They can present atypically, without the expected bulge under the skin and may come and go, exacerbated by exercise or other physical activity such as heavy lifting.
Get it checked out...Good luck!

You need to talk to your Dr. It sounds like a hernia, which is a weakness in the muscle wall that holds your insides in. Exertion or lifting can make it worse, and it won't go away on its own.
