Ever since giving birth (5 1/2 months ago) I have had pain in my achilles heal. I have no idea what it means-- Does anyone out there? It is stiff in the morning and tender at all other times.

What can I do next?

I would suggest purchasing a tennis ball and rubbing the bottom of your foot over the tennis ball for a few minutes each morning and night. Simply set the tennis ball on the ground, sit in a chair, and roll the ball back and forth under your foot. Also, try stretching your calf, I find it works best to hang your foot(toes up and heel off the edge) off of a stair or curb. I hope this helps, sorry for your pain, I know it can be very tender.

Stange enough, I hurt my ankle after I had my baby too. However, I don't think it was related to birth.

I spent a lot of time waiting to heal, visitint the foot doctor, then a second foot doctor, before I finally went to an Orthopedic specialist. I tore the tendon and had to have surgery. It was difficult with crutches and a baby, but I managed. Hint: Podiatrists cannot order the MRI, which shows tissue tears...they xray the bones.

With my second baby I had major siatic nerve problem (I called mine psycotic nerve because the pain was crazy bad at times. Ask your dr. maybe it not your achilles. Wearing supportive shoes is a good idea too.

Hi J.,
I'm not sure if it has anything to do with giving birth, but I know I inherited this from my dad. Every so often I get that same pain and lasts a few days. I simply try to stretch it and I use a rubbing pain reliever, kinda like bengay, to help. I know what you're going through and it's not fun.
