Painting a Frig

I've never painted a refrigerator but I know they make special appliance spary paint. Maybe check online to see if you can find a tutorial and information.

They did this on HGTV a while ago, one of those "get the house ready to sell" things. They took the fridge out and used spray paint. I can't remember if it was specific to appliances but they used 5 or 6 cans and the fridge came out looking good. Maybe if you check out their website and search for it it'll come up.
Oh, and I think they ran fine grain sandpaper over it first to make the paint stick better.

We sray painted our black dishwasher off white. We took off the front panel, taped off anything that needed to be, adn spry painted it. Have long enough strokes to go off the sides, so you get a nice even coat. It's not as shiny as regular dishwasher front, but it works. A fridge is much bigger though, so I don't know how easy it would be. But I would try it, before buying a new one though. Or you could go to a junk yard and see if they would let you ractice.

I did paint our. The one we keep in the garage. It was that lovely old fashioned yellow, I sprayed it to look like stainlesss. It turned out pretty good. I had to rub w/ a fine grit sandpaper, to remove any paint, spray with a primer, then paint, it took about 4-5 cans of spray paint. You have tomake sure you buy the right kind, or it will not stick. You can seal it after. So it does not scratch, cuz it will.
One word of fault on my part, that I will tell you, that happened. I did not AIR out the fridge AFTER paintin, and my food picked up the smell & taste of the paint. So I would let it air out for a couple of days maybe even a week or so & put a box of baking soda in there. My bread & milk, what ever I put in there was ruined, no one could eat it. After a while it is fine.

I don't know if this will help, but I watch HGTV just about every night and they say that spray painting the fridge is the best way to do it without leaving any obvious marks. I'm sure if you go to their website you can do a search on how and what type of spray paint is the best. I think they may also have a DIY(Do It Yourself)link that you can look up too. The HGTV website is usually very helpful when it comes to home remodeling and stuff. Good luck and I hope I helped a little.

A little about myself:
3 daughters (ages 4,2 and 7 months) and married to a wonderful guy.

Go to a Home Depot and talk to them to make sure you get the right paint and do the right prep. Also figure out the cost of the paint and supplies and time before you do it and the age of the fridge. If the fridge is over 3 years old and was under 1,000.00 and it costs more than a 100.00 to paint it, I wouldn't do it as you may be putting an extra 100.00 into a fridge that may or may not last more than 5 years more. Fridges used to be made to stand up for 15-25 years, but now the quality for a standard fridge is down to 7-12. Make sure it's worth it. Also the Home depot people can go over how to prevent odors and how longto leave it empty. This more than likely will need to be done outside in a very ventilated area, so remember a Fridge will have to be moved out and back in the house. Also you will probably need a full week for a complete sanding, primer, paint, seal coat and to dry properly. Is there somewhere food can be stored?
