Hi Moms,
I was wondering if any of you have experienced what I'm currently going through. My daughter who is a little over 1yr 1/2 is going through the potty trainning process and she's doing very well to be so young. well when I first started trainning her I was using the Huggies Pull Ups they were cool for the day time and nap time but are horrible for bedtime she woke up every morning soaking wet even her bed was wet so I wanted to change to the Night Time pull ups but they would never have her size so I decided to use the Pampers Easy UPs which I was fine with since she used Pamper Diapers since birth. After about 1 week of using the Pamper Easy Up's my daughter started to develop little blisters near her private area, once they popped they looked like little burn marks, I contacted her Doctor who told me to do a couple of things (no wipes use a wash cloth apply A&D ect) and if that didn't work or if they got worse to bring her in. her condition got worse so I took her to urgent care last night and was told by the doctor that my daughter had a yest infection and a bacterial infection caused by the blue liner in the Easy Up! WHAT? YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! and that she has seen alot of kids for that same issue. I was and am outraged!!! I had already made a complaint with Pampers yesterday then I called them again today to let them know what their product had done to my baby. their response to me was don't use any more of the Easy up's (DUH) and we will send you a giftcard for some wipes. also that someone may call me from their Health and inspection department. WOW! May Call me!
has anyone else gone through this same thing and if so what did you do about it and what was the out come?
thanx in advance

I forgot to mention that I googled this and I got about 5 hits with mothers saying the same thing had happened to their kids and also that there is a Civil Law Suite aginst Proctor and Gamble for this issue claming that Baby Dry, Cruisers and Easy Ups have this effect on kids.

Ok I think some of the mothers think I'm concerned with the night time wetting that's not my issue I know she'll be wet I said my resons for changing her to Easy Up's was because the Pull ups from Huggies didn't work well at night. My issue is with the product giving my daughter a yest infection and a bacterial infection due to the blue lining they use. My concern is the little blisters shes getting from them that look like burn marks after they bust. My daughter has never had a diaper rash since birth and i have 2 other kids (19 & 12) and I know how kids get rashes. I also know that almost every product will have some type of side effects but when you have multipule families claiming the same thing something has got to be wrong.

What can I do next?

Easy-ups are not supposed to be used for bedtime in the first place, especially with a kiddo who doesn't wake up to potty. They are more for accidents. You should still be putting your kid in a nighttime diaper until they're actually getting up to pee in the middle of the night. Any product that's not meant for long term wear while being wet will give you problems like you experienced it's nothing to do with the quality of the product. You'd get that result with any of the pull-up-esque products.

About the lawsuit.. they filed suit when the new cruisers were introduced and all medical cases were dismissed as common diaper rash. You can look up any major kids brand and find some lawsuit out there against them. Anyone can write anything on the internet.

Honestly unlike others I couldn't use easy ups until they changed their dipes. My kids would get the same things your DD was before they were changed. Some kids just respond differently to things.

My oldest son couldn't use Pampers Cruisers. It made him break out in a horrible eczema rash. But for the Baby Dries he was fine. For my younger son I can't use Huggies wipes becuase they give him wipe burn. Every kid will have a different reaction to various products out there, and sad to say, we have to be vigilant. After our experience with the Cruisers I've become very careful about I use. Honostly, I'm not sure there's much Pampers will do since I'm sure there are lots of kids who use Easy Ups with no problems. However, I still think it's great that you lodged a complaint. It's the only way they'll know what affect the products are having, save for customer surveys. I hope your daughter's infection clears up quickly and that she's not in too much pain.

Easy-ups or Pull-Ups, are useless for naps or bedtime.
Because they do not hold much, and leak.
Just use regular diapers for nap/bedtime or a night time diaper.

The child will not get confused.

And yes, I have heard of the Easy-Ups causing problems. As you described. In some children.

Just as an aside: day time pottying and nap time/bedtime pottying is different. Night time dryness, even if the child is daytime potty trained... is not something that is fully attained, biologically, until even 7 years old.
Day and night pottying are 2 different processes and time-lines.
My daughter was already 5, and still in night time diapers. Normal. And per Pediatricians.

Also, it is a good idea, to buy several waterproof bed pads, to put directly under the child. Makes clean up much easier, when leaks occurs. I have several, I still use for my kids at bedtime. If wet/soiled, I just rotate it out and put another one under them. The sheets, are not soiled that way.
I got mine years ago, from Amazon.

Anyway, just use regular diapers for night time and nap time.
Or the overnight/night time type diapers.

Wow, that is crazy! I have never heard of this but obviously it is a major issue if there is a class action suit. I used to use Pull-Ups when my son was training but eventually just did underwear because it made it easier.

Wow!! I JUST bought like 3 packs of Easy Ups, because my son is also a little over a year and a half and we're just starting potty training. I'd already had some Pull-Ups, but needed to get more and I had some coupons for Easy Ups so I got those. I hadn't opened my pack of Easy Ups yet. I'm so sorry this happened to your daughter. I'm very curious and anxious to see the experiences of some other moms who've used Easy Ups.
BTW- at night, I just put his regular pamper on him instead of using any type of training underwear/diaper. With him being 19 months, and just getting into daytime training, I'm sure we're a couple months off yet from nighttime training, so there's no point in me using anything other than a diaper at night.

Pull ups brand are useless. I couldn't use those with my boys. They leaked like crazy. I switched to Easy Ups early in the process. But. Since I started potty training my kids about 4 years ago, I have had severe eczema on my hands that would peel and burn. It would clear up and recur. I went to about 6 doctors and 2 specialists. All they could do was tell me to stay away from soaps, fragrances, and cover my hands while cleaning, and take allergy pills and use a sterroid cream on the breakouts. I did all of that, but I kept breaking out. Finally, I figured it out. It was the powder from handling all those diaper changes with the Easy Ups. Unfortunately the product works really well, and my boys never got a rash. However I can no longer buy that brand and have switched to the store brand from Wal Mart training pants that work just as well, for my youngest. My hands have healed and the problem hasn't come back. I am so furious that for four years I suffered with this problem, and the whole time it was the pampers. My hands were so ugly looking that it affected my work and my marriage. The constant itching and burning kept me up at night scratching. I had never had this problem before or since buying this product. I am relieved to have finally figured it out, but it took years before I made the connection between the easy ups and my eczema. So just wondering if there is anyone else with hand eczema who maybe hasn't figured it out? It doesn't surprise me though because I remember with my oldest, when he as a newborn he got a rash from the blue color in the Baby Dry diapers and we stopped using those immediately.
