Pampers Swaddlers or Baby Dry for a Newborn?

Expecting #3 in a few weeks, so I went shopping for diapers. We used Swaddlers for our first two boys up to the biggest size, then switched to Baby Dry instead of Cruisers. I opted for Baby Dry largely because Cruisers are so much more expensive and have never had any problems or complaints. This time, I decided to go with Baby Dry size 1 instead of Swaddlers. My husband thinks I should have bought Swaddlers for the newborn because they'll fit the tiny, little body better (I think he's swayed by marketing and the product name). Has anyone used Baby Dry for a newborn? Any issues? People do seem to have more complaints with Pampers since they switched to Dry Max in the Swaddlers and Cruisers line. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I LOVE the swaddlers because of the feel of the outside - they feel almost like fabric - they are so soft. I used them with my son until he outgrew them.

I tried the baby dry in size 1 for my daughter, and the only difference I noticed was the feel of the outside. The baby dry felt more like paper. I didnt notice any performance differences, and eventually decided that for the money I would save, i would go with Baby Dry. That is all she wears now.

Final answer - I LOVED those soft sweet little Swaddlers, but for the money, I went with Baby Dry.

Loved loved loved the Pampers Swaddlers for both of my kids as newborns/infants! They contained the nasties better than any other type I tried. With my oldest, we eventually moved him into Cruisers where he stayed until he was potty trained. But I was working full-time, so we had more income. Now that I'm a SAHM, with my youngest, we switched from Swaddlers to Cruisers and eventually into Baby Dry by 16 months (since Baby Dry is cheaper). But she still uses Cruisers at night because they are definitely more absorbent and can take the nighttime pee amounts without leaking. We've had no issues with any of the diaper rash that others have attributed to the Dry Max diapers.

My sister has a 3-week old and as of today has concluded that Swaddlers are her favorite, too (after trying a few different brands that were gifts).

I really liked the huggies newborn care diapers with the cut out for the belly button, especially for a boy, when we had to fold the other diapers down it left a pocket in the diaper for him to pee out of. He literally peed himself 10 times one day before I figured out I needed huggies newborn care diapers. No more folding and peeing out the sides. After the belly button we just stuck with regular huggies.

We did swaddlers (loved them!) until our sons grew out of them. Then, we moved to Baby Dry due to price. Do a little digging on the complaints with the dry max; a vast majority of the people who were outraged with the change and so called 'chemical burns' were actually people who regularly cloth diapered.

I liked swaddlers for my newborns because of how soft they are. I just imagine that would be the most comfortable in something soft. Some of those other diapers are so hard and "crunchy" lol!

I'm a pampers swaddlers mom. I loved them.
I did use baby dry, but when she got bigger....I think they were a size 3. I liked them too though, and they didn't leak. I abosolutely hated the cruisers...every pampers cruiser diaper I put on her leaked, I ended up giving them to a friend of ours (I bought the big box without trying them first, DOH).
We ended up switching to LUVs...cheaper and they don't leak...although I am not sure how their newborn diapers are.

Hi,

If your kids are sensitive to diaper rash, I would get the swaddlers sensitive (without dry max) or the Target brand diapers. Our little guy is 2 months old and the pampers with dry max caused a terrible diaper rash that cleared up as soon as we switched diapers.

Swaddlers Sensitive is what we used til she outgrew them, and then I went to Baby Dry b/c something about the Cruisers didn't work for her. Frankly, since they also use the dry max in Swaddlers now, I think I'd go straight to Baby Dry, too.

The other thing he might be thinking of is that newborn diapers have the cut out for the cord. You could still use the 1s, just fold them.

I preferred the swaddlers for both my boys over the Baby Dry.

We are all about Huggies - the diapers, the wipes. We used the "Little Snugglers" and bought them in the box. Much cheeper than Swaddlers.

I loved the swaddlers and moved to cruisers when the time was right. I tried the baby dry but didn't like them. Baby dry seemed too rigid, whereas the swaddlers and cruisers are more pliable....like a baby. : ) Hope that helps.

I liked the Swaddlers at first. They are super soft and now they have a little strip in the front that changes color when they pee. The size 1 may be a little too big the first few weeks depending on the size of your baby.

I HATE Pampers with the Dry Max- both my kids got horrible rashes from it. We just use the Size 1 Huggies instead (and not the special newborn kind either) - with no problems. Go with the Baby Dry and you will be fine :)

Loved the Pampers Swaddlers! They were so soft, and my daughter was pretty small, so they fit well. We switched to Baby Dry later. Tried Cruisers once, and they leaked a lot. We used Pampers Extra Protection at nightime starting at about 9 months old. Those worked great for us.

Honestly, every baby is different (which I know you know!). Diapers that my first did fine with forever, my second could never wear! So, I say, go for the cheaper of the two...if it doesn't work then explore your options!

I have been using the baby dry for the last 9 months with NO issues at all. I think the entire time, she has only had 2 leaks total. She has not had a single rash with them, and they seem a lot more comfortable to her than any other brand I tried. (up&up, parent's choice, huggies, luvs, and one other generic one that I can't remember the brand from HEB) I recently started putting her in the cruisers because she has started walking... but she doesn't seem to notice any difference so I am switching back when she runs out of those. lol.

We used cloth- pretty, economical, and great for the environment. Plus- no leaks and you can double up layers for night time.

I loved flats w/covers for newborn and then FuzziBunz for later.
