My son has Rolandic epilepsy, he has had it since he was 8 years old, and is 11 now. He has the tonic clonic type seizure where his whole body jerks.
When he first had his seizures I was a walking wreck, I felt like our lives had come to an end and I wouldn't let him do ANYTHING! Poor thing. Whenever he would make a funny sound or jerk his body in a strange way as kids do I would shout "are you okay, are you having a seizure? It took me a couple of years to get used to the idea that it can happen any time, out of the blue, and I had to relax a bit. But it takes a while to get to that point.

We got a baby monitor with a camera, and we have that on in his room all of the time so we can see and hear him, but it's pretty unobtrusive, I would greatly recommend one of those for your peace of mind. My son has months between his seizures, but he is on medicine now which I think diminishes them slightly. Did they give you a diagnosis of epilepsy type?

I don't know if I can answer all your questions, but I do have a lot of knowledge on epilepsy as I have researched it a lot. You can pm me if you like

Has he had an EEG to see what part of his brain is involved? What *type* of epilepsy? Have they started meds?
