Hello everyone! I need some help! My daughter's 5th birthday party is this coming weekend! We have a bunch of kids coming and they are all different ages. What can I give as a gift bag type gift? I do not want to spend a ton of money per kid. Any ideas are welcome!! thanks in advance!!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I am totally not into junk! That is why I was trying to think of something simple that the kids will use. I thought about markers and a coloring book but with the different ages of the kids that will be hard! I love the ideas so far!!!

I go with a snack idea because children of all ages like a snack. I did rice crispie treats and a juice pouch or milk box. I did like the idea of a giant cookie also. I just put the snack in a paper lunch bag and wrote each child's name on it. It worked well, didn't cost much and the children enjoyed it.

It's a huge consensus here that party favor bags are a waste of money and most parents don't like them!

What is the birthday theme? Try and do it along those lines if you can. Party gifts I have done, is a wrapped up cookie or bag of popcorn they can take home. A small pack of stickers. A small thing of bubbles or mini playdough or mini waterpaints tied in matching ribbon to her party colors. I only do one of those.

Bags with tons of cheap little party favors usually get broken/lost quickly and are just too expensive to put together.

ha, am doing same...sparkly nail polish and hair clips for the girls, yoyos for the boys, stickers and tattoos, and planning on Play Doh (party size)...

At one party we attended, the goodie bag included a plastic plant pot and bag of seeds. I thought that was cool!

They love balloons and bubbles -- you could inflate the balloon and attach the bag to it so it's party of the decor. I am hoping to do that.

I love the cookies on a stick idea here.

How about mini candy bars or suckers? temp tat's, pencils for school. They have sections at most stores for this type of stuff.

However, I agree with not giving the "junkie" goodie bags.

last year I bought a bunch of really cheap plastic cookie cutters and put a note in the bag telling the kids they could use it for jello, cookies, playdough, or other art projects. I also bought number cookie cutters and made enough cookies so each kid could have 4 cookies in the number that my child was turning at the time. I frosted them with fondant and royal icing. You could just use royal icing. They were big cookies and I thought I made enough so kid could have 2 and parents could each have one. I was wrong however, they were such a hit that most of the parents didn't even get to taste them! it took a bit of time but it was fun and there was no junk that could clutter a house! I plan to make the cookies each year for the giftbags but this year I'll definately make more. I'm even thinking of possibly making them on popsicle sticks this year.

I did bubbles, pencils, theme stickers (to go with the party) and sunglasses. You can also get each kid an inexpensive coloring book and a small pack of crayons in the theme of the party. Or have them use foam stickers and decorate their own hats or door hangers. One year I did buckets and pails for a summer theme. Even little kids like to color. Just consider fatter crayons.

I'd make homemade cookies on a stick, bag them, and give those. If the party has a theme, make themed cookies. Just get regular old sugar cookie stuff, and when they're still warm from the oven, slide a fat popsicle stick in :)

Get the little clear gift/goodie bags. Inside each one put a big cookie (sugar or chocolate chip etc) then attach a tag that says thanks for coming and sharing my special day. No junk to end up in a landfil. just a cookie to eat.

I just do NOT get it, why do moms think they have to give kids a present for coming to a party. I simply do not give in to that new fad. I say don't do it.
