Well I am a 25 year old mother to a beautiful daughter born 12/12/03. I have had a miscarriage @ 21, was diagnosed w/ Cervical cancer @ 21, got pregnant again 3 months after the cervical cancer was removed, gave birth 7 1/2 months later, almost 3 years later was diagnosed w/ Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. So I was put on the highest dose of b/c put on the market to make me have a period and in hopes of it triggering me into ovulating (since I don't ovulate due to the PCOS). Well, I am in a stable relationship with a WONDERFUL man, but by no means are we attempting to have a child right now, but...I have missed 3 pills in a row...what do you ladies think my odds are of getting pregnant w/ the PCOS and not Ovulating...DO you think the pill has me regulated yet? I've been on them 3 months..going on 4.

What can I do next?

Hi L.! My name is H. & I was diagnosed w/ PCOS in 2002. I don't know anyone w/ it so sometimes I feel so alone. I only have periods while on the pill also. I got pregnant in 2002 w/ my 1st daughter by going on Glucophage/Metformin. I took 2000mg/daily & it made me ovulate. In 2005 I went off the pill again in hopes of getting pregnant. I could not have a period so I took 25 mg of Clomid & got pregnant right away. I tell you my story because even w/ PCOS I got pregnant 2 different ways so there is hope. Don't give up because there are different things to try & they are worth it. My e-mail address is:____@____.com if you'd like to contact me peronally.

I agree with the others on here, that it all depends on the time in your cycle. Read the leaflet that came with your pills, it will tell you whether to throw the pack away and start a new one or what. I also have PCOS, and my first child I was on antibiotics, bc and surprise I got her. The second one, I did the bc pills and then clomid. Well best of luck, keep us posted.

Hi my name is S.. I have not had this problem but my mother has and we are very close. I'm not sure if this will help you or not. But my mom was diagnosed at age 12 with this. She was nott ovulating or having periods either. She then got pregnant at age 24 but after that was not able to get pregnant again. She too went through bc and hormonal drugs but they did not work and at age 30 she had to have her uterus removed as it got weak and dropped. So that would make me an only child but im ok with that i love my parents. You might get a chance again. With all the technology these days maybe they can do something but you might want to expect the worse too. This happend to my mom back in the 60's and 70's so there could still be an option for you. If you have any questions i can answer or just need to talk for i am a single young mom my self of a 5 year old daughter im here. Email me at ____@____.com or on this site too. I hope i did not scare you. Have a good day and love what you have life is too short.

Hi L.!
I am also living w/ PCOS and the 1st time I got preg. I was on birth control but taking an antibiotic when surprise! We tried for 2 yrs. w/ our 2nd and finally after 8mo. on BCPills I started taking Clomid and it took me 6 cycles of that but we did get preg. it is possible it just takes paitents which is hard when you are trying to conceive, because we all want it to happen now not a year from now. Please if you need anything my personal email is ____@____.com. Maybe we should start a PCOS support group on here, that way we know we are not alone. Good Luck!

Hi L.,

Sorry that I am responding to this late, but I just join up and saw your post and had to write. I don't know if this will help but here is my story. I have PCOS. I have tried many things to help concieve my first child. I was married in 1990 and in 1993, we tried to conceive my first child. For ten years we tried many things and went to many doctors to even find a diagnose of what was wrong. In 2000, i finally got my diagnose, PCOS with pre diabetic condition and chance of having children were very slim according to my dr. So i went on Glucophage medication and went back on the pill and tried to not think about it. In 2002, I went off the bc and within in a month i was pregnant with my first child ( born in spring of 2003). With my second child, I went off my bc within a couple of weeks i was pregnant. So i will say yes, i could happen. I wasn't trying with my second child and I also thought that it would take a while like the first one. I was wrong.

best wishes
S.

As for the pills and pregnancy, it would depend on where you are in your cycle. But if you haven't had one recently, I don't really know. Also is your pills a high estrogen dose? Has he prescribed a bioidentical progestrone also? Here is a link to a spot telling you about PCOS and tells you about progesterone and etc. Also make sure that if you are prescribed progesterone that it is a bio-identical. Dr. John Lee's web site can tell you more about hormones. Also ask for saliva testing because I can verify that blood work on estrogen & progestrone are invalid.

I also have PCOS and I was on birth control to help get me regulated, and hopefully to conceive again. I was on them for a few months and they seemed to be doing the trick at regulating, then I ran out and I did not get anymore. I have been told by the doctor that I need to be on the for at least 1 year before I should expect to be regulated enough to conceive. So I would say chances are low, but of course I wouldn't play with fire if I were you either... :);)

Hi, L..

I have PCOS also. I was told it would be very difficult for me to get pregnant on my own, if at all. Without even having a period for 8 months prior (no birth control though) - I ovulated and got pregnant in 2000. I would say, YES, it's definitely a possibility, especially if you've gotten pregnant without infertility treatment. If you've been on the pill for 4 months and have missed pills I guess it would also depend on where you are in your cycle - if you're in the middle somewhere and have missed pills - you could possibly get pregnant.

I'm sorry to hear of your miscarriage and your cervical cancer. A majority of women with PCOS can't get pregnant without going through infertility treatment so it's great that you've been able to get pregnant on your own. Good luck!!
