Hi Moms,

My husband and I just moved to the Annandale area with our 20-month-old son. I am looking for a great pediatrician - preferably one with a smaller (or at least not super busy) practice and who is open to an alternative vaccination schedule.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

Annandale may be a little far - but our Pediatrician is wonderful! We go to McLean Pediatric Associates ###-###-####). It is a small practice (3 doctors) and they've always been able to get us in the same day (even for a well check-up). When we went for the initial investigative consult they explained the practice, listened to all our questions, even had us meet each doctor and most of the nurses. They believe that the parents know the children best - so they are good about talking to you before diagnosing anything. We have had no problems setting up an alternative vaccination schedule (unlike most of the places we visited where they said they would do an alternative schedule but still made you feel like an irresponsible parent for doing so). I also love that they have three separate entrances - sick, well, and known contagious.

Best wishes finding a doctor!

We go to Sleepy Hollow Pediatics at Seven Corners in Falls Church. Most of our friends and neighbors take their kids there too. It is a large, bustling practice, but you can always get in for sick visits, even weeknights and Saturday mornings. There are at least 8 pediatricians. Mine, Dr. Eduardo Fox, worked with me to fine-tune the alternative vaccine schedule I requested, although they are very pro-vaccines. They are one of the highest regarded practices in the area and maintain priviledges at many local hospitals (just in case!). They are part of Capital Area Pediatics: http://www.capitalareapediatrics.com

Just putting in another good word for Sleepy Hollow Pediatrics. We recently relocated from Falls Church to Great Falls, and I still make the trek back to Sleepy Hollow b/c I LOVE them. I've never, ever had a hard time getting in for a sick visit (always the same day, and generally within a few hours of your call) and their staff is ridiculously helpful and friendly. I've seen every doctor in the practice, and can't rave enough about them. Their number is ###-###-####. Welcome to the area!

We love ALL Pediatrics - they have offices in Alexandria, Lorton and Lake Ridge (we go to the Lake Ridge office, but many of the doctors go between offices). I am not sure how far the Alexandria office is from you - but here is the address and phone number:
