Pediatrician Taking Cook Children's Medicaid/CHIP

I have looked and looked and looked and looked and I ended up at Dr. Saty's office in North Richland Hills next to the hospital and it was the most awful experience I have had in awhile at a doctor's office. We were there over 1 1/2 hours before they even called me to the window to make sure all my info was correct! There is a big sign on the door that said EVERY appointment would be 1-2 hours at least. I left the office in tears - having to leave because I did not have time to wait another hour just to get back to a room. I left the most awesome pediatrician in Austin. I have even called her since we moved here and she always calls me back and helps me out. I want in to any Cook's Children's programs but have been turned down by every one - not taking new patients. I would rather not drive 30 minutes one way to get to the doctor, but now I would just settle for a great doctor. I have had to use the Cook Children's Urgent Care twice - one for severe sinus infection in the 9 year old and yesterday, the 2 year old got 1st and 2nd degree burns on the palm of her hand, and I need a PCP to follow up with. Does any one know about Dr. Levy in Bedford? Or about the Cook Community Clinic in Northside Fort Worth? I have two kids on Cook's CHIP and one on Cook's Medicaid. I live in Haltom City, TX.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I found the Bluebonnet Pediatric group that is on the North Texas medical campus. Dr. Sarah Matches was recommended and that is who we called and they said they would take us - that was Tuesday. I told them that my youngest had been to Urgent Care on Saturday and so she needed a follow up visit so they got us in Wednesday afternoon! They were VERY thorough with me and answered EVERY question I could think up about my daughter's health - not just about the burn. Thanks so much, ladies! This is such a relief to me.

its not easy at all finding a good dr in this area who takes chip or medicaid! we have been looking for a year (since we moved from arlington) we do have an awesome dr in arlington that we go to (45 minute trip!) i figure the kids dont get sick too often and the one who does the most is on traditional medicaid so we get gas mileage reimbursement.

good luck and let me know if you find one close that is good, we are still looking!

I went to this same doctor not only did it take forever to get back to see him but he was very rude and dismissive of my worries that I was having for my kid we never went back. I have also talked to a couple of other people later who have all said the he was very rude to them and there children.

My MIL takes my BIL to Dr. Levy and loves him. One of my friends also takes her 2 boys to him and has never had a problem. Give him a shot.

I don't recommend dr. Levy. They used to give excellent service until the office staff changed. Then they seemed to take in too many patients due to being one of the rare doctors that take Medicaid in the area. Also, you will never see the actual doctor, it will be a nurse practioner.

My children have Cook Children's Health Plan through CHIPS and they see Dr. Kim Mangham in Keller. Never any long wait times and never treated rude.

Not sure if she's taking new CHIPS patients but there are come Cook's doctors who are. Great network for CHIPS. Never had a problem and we've had it for 1 year with a renewal for next year.

Hope this helps.

I also had the same AWEFUL experience with Dr. Saty. I went there twice waiting 2 1/2 hours each and him seeing my daughter for 2 minutes MAX!! It was horrible. I finally found a doctor that would take Medicaid that I love. Her name is Dr. Matches and she is off of University in Ft. Worth. Once she was not available when I needed to get in, in a hurry and I saw the other doc in the office Dr. Alexander and I loved her just as much. If you have any more questions I will be happy to answer, i know how difficult it is to find a doc. that you trust and love.

I have seen Dr. Delores King in Ft. Worth. I have found that no dr on Cook's Children's CHIPS is stable but she seems to be. Her office is kind of scary though she is off of Meadowbrook and has bars on her windows I guess she used to carry medicine and had break in's at night because they have signs stating there is no medicine on the premises. Staff is pretty decent very friendly to the children. Dr King takes her time with you when you have questions so you don't feel rushed. But unfortunately I think I will be looking for a closer office because my sons have meds every 30 days and the drive is too much.
As for the Dr Saty I went there one time and walked out. My kids had Tricare and no one takes that around her hardly cause it is almost as bad as CHIPS but that was the only office I could get into that day. I waited a LONG time and there was no a/c the staff was rude. The patients that were in the waiting room looked miserable and had been waiting a long time.

Good luck in your search!
