Does anybody out there have a cleaning product that does not leave a film on my Pergo laminate flooring. I have tried everything to try and get its shine back. I can get it clean but the residue that it leave behind just drives me crazy. I feel that I have tried everything. Water, water and vinegar, products from stores but nothing works. Is there something out there that will help me. I can not stand it when I spend hours cleaning my floor and then my twins run across it in bear feet and I can see perfect little foot prints everywhere. Please, please, please help. Thanks for the responses so far. I guess I should say that I am not looking for shiny but maybe a semi gloss like when it was new.

What can I do next?

hi -
I use the pergo cleaner (found at home depot) or water/vinegar. To avoid streaks, use a towel to dry the floor after mopping (like you are "buffing" the floors). For best results, use a microfiber mop.

other tips I found on the web:
• In order to prevent a film from developing on your Pergo floor, nothing works better than straight water.
• Do not leave water on your Pergo floor as this will cause your floor to swell.
• Never use soap or detergents, wax or polish, as these products will leave a film.
* "The vinegar and water solution in a spray bottle misted on and use a dust mop type "mop " to go over it. Or they sell special laminate cleaner that won t streak. Use the same swivel headed dust mop to go over it with. Laminates dont shine , they are made in a matte type finish as to be slip resistant. Some have a satin or slight shine but not shiny."

hope that helps!!

I use Bona brand cleaner. It's available at Bed Bath and Beyond...probably also at other places, but that's the only place I've ever gotten it. It's great! Just make sure you get the one for laminate and hard wood.

Check out this link (http://www.saferforyourhome.com/melamagic.htm) for something that is safe for your family, home, environment and floors. It is only $5.69 for a bottle that will make up to 32 gallons of cleaner. You shouldn't use it on waxed floors but it works amazing on just about everything else. In addition you are not limited to cleaning floors with it but can clean anything from lawn mowers to your oven/stove top and even in its most concentrated form it is completely safe and non-toxic. I use Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day All-Purpose Cleaner in a bucket of warm water. I generally use an amount likely equal to 1/8th cup to 2 gallons of water. The solution isn't damaging to the floor, doesn't leave any residue or streaking, and smells amazing due to the essential oils. You can find Mrs. Meyers at a lot of places, but I actually find it the least expensive at New Seasons. Fred Meyer, Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Whole Foods also carry it though. I also use a microfiber mop, which is hugely beneficial on a pergo floor. I purchased mine at Bed, Bath, & Beyond.

I think Home Depot is a Pergo floor distributor and they have a cleaner designed for Pergo floors. Be careful with cleaners, I don't know exactly what it is, but there is a chemical in certain floor cleaners that are not supposed to be used on laminate floors. At the very least you can check with someone at H.D. to find a appropriate cleaner.

Liha is RIGHT!! You have to clean with the grain and it looks TEN times better. I just keep our kids in their rooms for 10-15 minutes or do it at bed time so it has time to dry and then its NICE and shiny again, just like new. Oh, I use the Clorox Ready Mop.

my hubby swears that you have to clean with the grain in the pergo... same direction and the film won't show. try cleaning with less actual cleaner and more water...

I've had good luck with just using my dishwashing liquid (a very small amount) in a bucket of very hot water. I do small sections at a time either by hand or with a mop and then dry/buff as I go.

I use Shaklee's Basic H2. Not only does it clean pergo floors and leaves the shine but it also cleans the whole house and for pennies on the dollar. If interested contact me.
