400 Dollars for a birthday party!!!! Previous post????
I find it odd to have a party at a pet store, and I do agree , they sell puppy mill dogs at this store....
I was wondering if anyone has had a party at one of the Petland stores. Wanted to know costs and if it was a good idea.
I was really surprised by all the negative comments. Even if I don't agree with a post I try to be a bit positive to the person asking the question. And I guess the zoo idea would be okay, but we live in a suburb outside of Chicago near the Brookfield zoo and their parties start at $700.00 for a party of 8.

I totally agree with Bobbi K, they sell puppies from puppy mills, they will never have my support or money.
Have the party at the zoo, much more educational and tons of fun.
Petland stores sell puppy mill puppies. I wouldn't give them a dime of money for a birthday party. What a racket.
My son just went to a Petland birthday party on Friday. He is 7. He had a pretty good time but I can tell you that it was the most out of control party either of my son's has ever attended. The kids literally have the run of the store at several times throughout the party. There is no security or eyes really watching over the kids. Anyone could have walked out with one of the party attendees and no one would have had any idea.
It seems odd to have a party at a Petland. Look into a local zoo or park.
It was $150 for weekend party. I misunderstood and thought they did the whole party for you. Big mistake. Be sure to take birthday games to play and a bigger treat bag. They brought out puppies to see...for about 45 minutes. Then we never saw the person again unless we asked for her. The kids did do a fish tour which was very cool. But I had 45 minutes or more to fill on my own. Luckily, the kids all wanted to pet the hamsters for 45 minutes! I totally didn't understand that part. With buying a cake, decorations, extra party treats it became expensive for 12 kids...but they did have fun.
My stepdaughter went to two parties at Petland and she loved it!
One year we had a party at Brookfield Zoo. A friend was a member so she gave us all these free tix to get in. We didn't pay for a party, we just walked around and then had a picnic in one of the areas. It didn't cost that much.
Also, Petland may use puppy mills. BUT, if you take a look at all the bad things big business are doing you wouldn't buy anything ANYWHERE! We are being ripped-off and cheated and there are unethical practices all over. Pick your battles. It's a birthday party for your child!
My daughter has attended 2 parties at the Petland in Bolingbrook and all the kids loved it. I have no idea about the cost, but the kids had such a great time and now my daughter wants her next party there too.
I have my daughters birthday parties at a farm where the kids ride the ponies, feed the pig, and enter/exit the goat pen as they wish. There is a wooden slide/fort built for the goats and the kids and goats take turns sliding. As well, they feed, groom, and saddle their ponies. The kids all love it and I spend about $400, I supply the food. They unload my truck, host the party, and reload my party at the end. My daughter thinks the pony is hers.
