I was looking into piano lessons for my 7 year old. What's the average cost? And does anyone have a good teacher in the Lakeland area? I'm really looking more for average prices.

What can I do next?

I just started my 5-year-old on PeeryPiano.com and both he and I LOVE IT! You receive your lessons via video and once your child is ready you video his playing, post it on the site and the teacher (who is an international award-winner) personally responds with her own video response. I had concerns that it wouldn't be as good as in-person lessons but I actually prefer it because we can watch the lesson videos whenever we want. I actually taught piano for over 10 years and I prefer this to regular lessons.

Sorry to go on, but one more thing I love is that there's no driving to lessons and it costs a fraction of what regular lessons cost at $20 a month.

In Va the cost was $25 a week for 1/2 an hour. Here I pay $95 a month for 1/2 an hour, 1 lesson a week.

I'm not sure what prices are like in Florida, but in Utah it seems like $24-30 per hour lesson is average.

I have three little boys who want to take lessons--at $90 per week, I may have to rethink it!

good luck!

In my town the prices are like the others but I found an older lady through church who was retired and is awesome. She has published music in Hymn books and composes a presentation every year to showcase local talent. She is only charging us $50 a month. And we can do twice weekly 1/2 hr. lessons or weekly hours. We are inded blessed to have this woman as a teacher and to have her be able to give the gift of cheaper lessons.

I say shop around and get the best deal, both talent wise and financially. Maybe you can check the local newspaper and see who is advertising lessons, maybe you can run an ad and give the price you want to pay and see if you get any takers.

In our area (SE Georgia) it varies depending on the teacher. Most are around $20-30 per half hour session. One session per week.
