So we are almost positive we have the loan if they exept the offer. So now I am dreaming of what I want it to look like and what I woud like to do.
So If you could have your dream house what would you do? Colors? Outside landscaping? Carpet, laminate, or hardwood? The list could go on forever. So tell me...

What is your dream house?

What can I do next?

My dream house would be completely self-cleaning and maintenance free. =)
Seriously though, there are so many possibilities when upgrading, re-modeling, and stuff, it's endless. The one thing I like is having hardwood floors throughout, but I do admit I miss a little bit of nice, fluffy carpet from time to time.
Good Luck!

Hmmmmmm....dream house? That would be ON the ocean. The rest would be unimportant, but it would have to have a GOOD outdoor shower! ;)

Let me tell you this much: 14 years ago, we bought a house that we thought was perfect and needed nothing.
We've done the bathrooms, the roof, the furnace, the carpeting, painted every room, replaced floors with wood and tile, finished the basement, installed a window seat, changed out the coat closets, installed crown molding throughout, replaced all windows, furnace and AC. (I'm sure I'm forgetting something, too!)

Start with the MUST DOs then go room by room and do it bit by bit, O. room at a time.
Hopefully your payment doesn't exceed 25% of your NET monthly income. Then you should be good to do what you need.

Good luck!

First, thanks for your question! Even when I was a kid, I always fantasized about a dream house. (I think geometry classes would have been far more engaging if they'd had 'design your dream house' as an ongoing project.)

I love where I am now, a 1920's bungalow. If I had an unlimited budget:
I'd buy out the neighbors behind us and demo their house. Big backyard with potting shed.
I'd replace our kitchen nook picture window with something that could open and look out over the back yard, screened in...
Which leads me to a screened sleeping porch, for summer.
We only have one bathroom right now, so I'd add a second one upstairs, in our converted attic/master bedroom. Small one with a sink.
I'd change our old bathtub out for a clawfoot tub that I could soak in.
Revamp the kitchen: poured concrete countertops and a new oven.

And I'd have the hallway walls resurfaced: they are currently what I call 'drunk stucco' . I think a drunk person stuccoed the walls. It's terrible and you can scrape yourself on the wall.
Lastly, I'd find a way to loft Kiddo's bed somehow.

Outside, we'd paint the house something bright and fun. We get to do it next year.:)
Otherwise, I'll keep most of what we've got: old good hardwoods and period fixtures. I'll keep my haphazard cottage/veg garden with our fruit trees.I love this place, this home of ours.

I want land! No more than five acres but I want feel free.

Then it would have to have a round the house porch. Wide enough to put a swing on it. Long driveway so the kids can ride their bikes.Three car garage. Space for me, hubs and the kids stuff.

Inside: large closest, lots of kitchen counter space and storage. Hardwood floors (with dogs carpet is just so not fun). Finished basement. A long hallway to hang pictures of those we love.

A barn or huge storage shed on the land...so my husband can put all his tools in one place instead of the garage...so that I can actually park in a garage.

We have never painted the inside...we cannot agree on colors so everything stays white. But I would like to change that.

Central air

A deck or large patio in the back yard
Paved driveway

Oh my dream home *sigh*. It would have hardwood floors (in a light oak) lots of windows, a big kitchen, A big bathroom with a jacuzzi tub, a big yard with cottage gardens. In fact the whole house would have a cottage theme. The colors would be seafoams, and blues, light yellows, pinks and other cottagey colors. There is this house for sale near us and they have photos posted online of the inside of the house and the outside/yard and it is perfect! And this makes me sad because we won't be buying a house for at least 4 years and it most likely won't be on the market anymore.

I have laminate in my entry, kitchen and dining room and also in my home office. I would not do laminate again. It does look kind of cheap and it is very slippery. I think next time I'm going with hardwood.

I have also upgraded the kitchen and bathrooms. You should consider doing those. They really help the resale value of the home and it is so nice to cook in a nice looking kitchen!

Next would be outside landscaping. We haven't been able to have our backyard landscaped yet but I dream about it all the time.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

It's never ending, the list can go on forever. We bought our house when it was only 8 months old. We have done so much work but still have lots of things we would like to do. We put bamboo flooring throughout our 1st floor, granite kitchen countertops, stainless steel appliances, new fireplace mantel, completely finished our basement & put in a full bathroom, remodeled our master bathroom, finished our garage, closet systems in kids rooms. We really would like to do more landscaping but ........

Good luck & take a deep breathe

My dream house is pretty basic. A single story 4 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom with an actual dining room measuring at about 2000sqft situated on 2.5 acres of land. I prefer hardwood throughout or at least composite laminate hardwood works for me as well with carpet only the bedrooms. I would enjoy having at least one huge tree on the property but it's not a deal breaker and I would prefer to have at least an acre of lawn with rock studded pathways throughout.
