Hi M. F,
Both of my kids(5 & 7) just dealt with pink eye. Neither of them ran a tempy with it and it lasted for days being constantly pink. They had crust real bad especially in the mornings, almost to the point of having a hard time opening their eyes for the first time. My daughter had mucus drainage, watery eyes, slight crust, pinkness and very very bad itching. My son had crust pretty bad, watery, pinkness and bad itching but never saw mucus discharge which was weird but they both definitely had pink eye. What I personally think and I not a doctor whatsoever is when his temp gets pretty high he could have had blood vessels that broke which can very well happen with temp. This has happened to me, my husband and kids when we have ran high temp. It can feel a little uncomfortable too. Also, if it's happened without fever then it could be allergies which can cause pink/red eyes and itching. My husband and daughter get this because of their allergies. They have been super bad lately. I do know that if he does seem out of it, not eating or drinking much, on going temp or anything you feel is concerning I would definitely make an appointment with the pedi by Monday. Just keep an eye on the little guy like you have been doing :).
