Any ideas for food for a little pirates b-day party. We have a group coming and I'm looking for something fun and easy and maybe a little nutritious?
Thanks
S.

We just had a 4th birthday party that was pirate themed and we went with a pirate pizza party...easy and alliterative...and kids always love toping pizzas! If you are letting them make their own pizzas you can have each child put their name on a craft stick (Popsicle stick) and tuck it into the side of the pizza as it cooks to keep track of who's whose...just an idea. Have fun!

Here are some ideas I found online:

Pirate Birthday Party Food:

Here are some cool ideas for pirate birthday party food (remember to make little signs in front of each dish to make sure the kids recognize that it's authentic pirate food…).

*Chicken legs (no utensils allowed!!)
*Seaweed Pasta (Green Linguine)
*Treasure Salad (add dried cranberries, golden raisins and pecans in the salad
*Hot Dog Ships (spear a wooden skewer through a small piece of paper to make a schooner sail and then pierce it through a hot dog, then add a few Goldfish crackers)
*Octopus (split hot-dogs)
*Pirate's Teeth (corn)
*Golden Treasures (macaroni and cheese)
*Golden Nuggets (chicken nuggets)
*Veggie Palm Trees - Cut up various vegetable and serve on a platter with dip. You can then decorate the platter with palm trees that you make out of vegetables. The way you make these is by taking a carrot and securing it in the vegetables with a toothpick. Then take the top fourth of a green pepper, cut a small whole for the carrot to fit snuggly in and you have a palm tree!
*Fish 'n' Chips

The food suggestions I have have already been given, but I will add that something fun that we did was to have a game called "walk the plank". My son and his friends loved the game sooo much that they decided to eat their lunch on the plank.

I don't know if you've seen the "pirate booty" in the organic snack section of the grocery stores? It comes in a large bag & is a crunchy, nutritional snack similar to rice cakes but a slightly cheddar flavor and much better tasting! My kids love them, they have a big pirate on the bag and you can buy snack bags also. They are very popular in my son's school for a snack. Best of luck with the party. My son had a pirate theme years ago and we face painted mustaches and beards on the guests!

We went to a Peter Pan themed birthday party in September and of course I can only think of 1 food they had at the party, but it shouldn't be too difficult to make. There were orange wedges with a toothpick with a square peice of paper on the top of the toothpick like a Pirate ship sail. This mom took out the orange and replaced it with Jell-O, but I think it would be easier and would work the same with the orange, or any fruit wedge. Good luck. Have fun!!!! Arrrrgh!

it's super easy and pretty silly : bugs on a log!! (celery and peanut butter with raisins). When I was a kid I loved eating "bugs" :)

Hi there, we did a pirate party last year. It was so much fun! for food, I did some sandwiches cut in quarters, with "sails" on them. I just put paper flags on toothpicks. We also had a pirate ship cake with toy pirates on it. You should check out the family fun website, it has a whole section on pirate parties.

Hi S.,
Cut out a watermelon shaped like a pirate ship. Use preztel sticks for the poles and fruit roll-ups for the sales and cut out different fruit roll-ups to make a skull and bones flag. I party has toy treasure chests to put in the ship and fill that with tiny cut-up pieces of cheese. I could go on and on.... Have a ball!!!!!!!!

Well, this isn't the nutritous part, but how about some pirate booty? Also, this is the best time of year to find those chocolate coins wrapped in gold foil. What a great treasure to find if you hide some, or put them in goody bags. Actually, some supermarkets sell the pirate booty in individual snack bags so that could go home with the kids too. There's a great picture of a pirate on the bag!

What about Pirate Booty popcorn. It comes in big bags in the chip or health food aisle of most grocers. It's all natural cheese popcorn. I think you can get snack size bags too!

S.,
I did a pirate's party once too. I made popcorn balls that I shaped like skulls. Not completely healthy, but hey, popcorn balls are better than candy bars (aren't they?). You could make eye patches on them with fruit roll-ups and licorice strings.
Have a great party!

I did a pirate party once. You can make:

Pirate's Treasure!

Ingredients:
Celery
Peanut Butter
M&Ms, raisins, or any small yummy treat.

Directions:

Take the celery and slice it so that there are 2 pieces that are about the same size. Take one and put peanut butter on and the treat. Put the other piece of celery on top.

Makes: as many as you want it to
