I too am planning a bouncy birthday party for my 5 year old but haven't researched "bouncy companies" yet. Do you have any suggestions for me (i.e. who did you hire, cost, etc.). I never thought of a pirate them but that is a clever idea - thanks so much! Deb

For a three year old, I'd say keep it simple. They get distracted so easily and he will probably be happy just wearing a pirate costume and of course bouncing in the bouncy thing. I'd suggest a treasure hunt of some sort and if you have a backyard, even better because you can even bury something and than prepare a map for them to follow like he's a real pirate looking for treasure. It sounds like fun. I'm sure it will go well. Happy birthday to your son.

If you can make a cake, Wilton makes a Little Pirate cake Pan that is adorable. Its at wilton.com under bakeware, novelty shaped pans. This pan is versatile as you can decorate the little boy as a pirate or as a sailor. If you have no clue as to how to make a character cake, and if you live close by, I would consider taking it on a a project for a fee. I don't own a cake business, and I have never sold a cake before, but I have made several. I have a cute picture of the Diego cake I did for my sister.
2) have you ever been on Freecycle? Its a website where people give stuff they don't want to people who would like it. You could ask if anyone still has Gasparilla beads left over that they want to get rid of. It would be cute at a pirate party for all the kids to have the beads; not to mention, what a great party favor!!
3) If you look at places, such as Party City, they might still have some of the chocolate Gold Coins left from St. Patricks day. Those would be cute.

I found these ideas when I did a search for my daughter's Princess & Pirate party: http://www.birthdaypartyideas.com/html/pirate_party.html

For invitations, you can do treasure maps on parchment/resume paper or even messages in a bottle (apparently, they can even be mailed). For a craft, we bought wood trinket boxes at Michaels for $1 each and stained them ahead of time. Then I bought flat backed jewels at Joanns and the kids were able to glue jewels onto their treasure chests. You can do Pin the Eye Patch on the Pirate or Pin the Flag on the Pirate Ship as an activity. We also were going to do a treasure hunt, but ended up not having time and the weather wasn't conducive to it.

Good luck and have fun!

I have a friend who did a pirate theme partry and did the invitation on paper and burned the edges a little and rolled them up and put them in little bottles. Of course they were hand delivered instead of mailed. But it was super cute. She also decorated like this and with treasure chests she made and fake coins and beads.
Here is a link to some other ideas...and you can also do searchs on the internet for pirate party theme. :0) hth

Hi. The best place to get party supplies is the Oriental Trading Company. They have great items and a resonable price. You can visit their website at http://www.orientaltrading.com. They have great pirate themed supplies. You can also request a free catalog. If you are a member of mypoints you can order through them and get points for your purchase. Good luck. Have fun.

Hi! Just threw my son (4th b-day) a pirate party a couple of months ago and the kids had a blast. Here are a few ideas. I went to the dollar store and bought and inflatable alligator. I had my husband build a low balance beam (which we called the PLANK) out of 2x4's. I put the alligator underneath the balance beam and had each kid walk the plank. I also filled my small recycle bin with sand. I ordered little treasure boxes from Oriental trading and placed beads, tattoos, stickers and some plasitc money in each. I then locked the chest, put it ina small ziploc and buried them in the sand. I had each kid dig up the treasure...they loved it. Make sure to include the key in each bag. I also drew and cut out 2 big ships out of cardboard. I made sure they could stand. I divided the kids up into two ships and had them and their ships facing each other. I provided each side with soft spongy balls and told them they were to pretend they were cannonballs. I then told them to have a cannonball fight. At the end, I divided up the balls evenly and gave them to the kids. I bought the sports balls @ Party City. I also sent the kids on a scavenger hunt for booty. I sprinkled plastic money all over the backyard and told them to search for it. We ended with a pinata. Thee kids really enjoyed all the activities and it kept them busy. Of course you do not have to do all of these, but my son thought the party was cool.

My friend did a pirate themed party a couple of years ago and all the kids had a blast. Publix makes an awesome pirate ship cake and offers three different designs/sizes to suit your needs. She used www.orientaltrading.com for craft and game ideas. If you have a sandbox, you can bury "treasure" and the kids can dig for it. My friend used fake gold coins.

Good luck and have fun!

I did a HUGE pirate party in 2006 for my son and I ordered a great inflatible pirate ship for maybe $25. It is a big ring toss game. The nice thing is your son can play with it even after the party. I believe it came from www.orientaltrading.com. I also ordered cool pirate tatoos and they have tiny pirate bubbles for your gift bags. Everything is very reasonably priced. Mine was a multi-generational party so I had Pirates of the Caribbean playing on my DVD player for the grown ups while we did kid things. We had bandanas for the kids to wear. Also, I went to Office Depot and bought stationery that was printed to look like an old fashioned scroll. I saved a ton printing my own black and white message on the colored paper. Make sure you ask your guests to RSVP by bottle or note. Have fun!
