How'd you score a free night?? I want that!!
Like others have said, the room is not the reason you are going!
We recieved a free night at the Kalahari Resort at Wisconsin Dells. I was looking online and the standard rooms do not look very nice on-line (I'm hopeing the pictures don't do it justice???) the suites look nicer. Has anyone stayed there and what did you think. What other resorts would you recommend for kids 5yo and 2yo, but also luxurious accomodations for us (is this possible in the Dells?).

Chula Vista is awesome. The rental condos are BEAUTIFUL, and it's in a really beautiful location on the river. The resort is a little smaller than Kalahari and Wilderness, which is nice with little ones.
We've stayed in their regular rooms, their 2 room suites, AND in their 3 room suite with a kitchen, dining room, living room, & deck.
The basic rooms are, well, basic. Just like ANY other hotel you would stay at.
But you won't be spending much time in the room anyway! Their water park is the BEST! Once you go Kalahari, you won't find a better one! There is so much to do there! Your kids will have SO much fun. And there are a bunch of slides for adults as well! And they now have a huge indoor amusement type park as well!
It's free! Just go and enjoy it!
The Wilderness has a section called Glacier Canyon where you can rent a condo between 1-3 bedrooms. We did this with our 2 little ones and it was awesome! Reasonable priced plus it had a full kitchen including a dishwasher so we did not have to go out to eat with our 2 very active kids (almost 2 and almost 4 at the time).
the standard rooms are very basic, the suites are nicer, but there is not much about Kalahari that screams luxury - if you want luxury in Dells go to Sundara (although I am not sure they allow kids)
If you are looking into 5-star luxury akin to the Ritz or Four Seasons then you won't find it in the Dells. While the Wilderness has an incredible spa (among the best across the country) and great golf course, the accommodations aren't deemed 'luxurious'. Glacier Canyon condos are nice with granite countertops, but the rest of the furnishings and beddings are average.
It doesn't mean you can't enjoy yourself there. I love it! But if you want to be waited on hand and foot and want luxurious beds with down pillows and 1000-tc sheets, don't go to the Dells.
When we go to the Dells we always stay at The Wilderness on the Lake. They are condos. We always go with other families and we rent a couple of the three bedroom with connecting door in between and it has always been a great little vacation. I don't know that you will find real luxury in the Dells, it is more kid-friendly, but the condos make for a much nicer stay because you have rooms to put the kids to bed in and kitchens to at least give them something in the early mornings.
I 2nd the Wilderness. They have some BEAUTIFUL condo's, golf course, spa, TONS of stuff to do for the kids & adults right on the property. We stayed last year with a 2 y/o and really loved it. We'll be going back this spring.
The Great Wolf Lodge was fantastic!!! It was great for the whole family....and the breakfast buffet was amazing!!!
We absolutely love the Wilderness property, but that's the only one we've stayed at other than Meadowbrook Resort (less glam, but cozy and camping-ish). Good luck and have fun!
I stayed at the Kalahari twice in the past, it is nice, but this summer we are staying at the Wilderness Resort. It is awesome. Many indoor and outdoor water partks, etc. Check out their website. Have never been there but got their brochure today and the website looks like a blast.
Love the Kalahari Resort! Stuff for every one to do.
Enjoy!
The Kalahari is actually a very nice place. We did have a suite and it was a blast. I know others that liked their rooms as well. There is a lot at the hotel itself. We go every year with a church group of kids and it was been a great experience.
Hands down Wildernes resort. Been to most of the others. Wilderness is the best.
Tried the Kalahari (The standard room was fine) once but we always got to the WILDERNESS and we love it. My kids are 15. 10 & 8 but we have been going since the oldest was 2. You can get good deals in the winter time and they have a few indoor parks to chose from.
