Plan B Pill and Still No Period

My husband and I had a slight accident and I ended up having to take the plan b pill. In our situation a baby is not in our best interest right now. We already have three children and are not planning on having any for a little while. I took the pill as directed within 24 hours of the accident. I still have not had a period. I have had a very small amount of spotting but that's it. When I say small I mean small. I have taken two pregnancy tests and they have both come back negative. Is it possible I could have an ectopic pregnancy and the test is not picking it up or is there anything that could be majorly wrong? I would appreciate any feed back

What can I do next?

Sonunds like you need to go to the doctor. I don't know anything about the Plan B pill except I don't agree with it but that is not important. If it could be a tubal pregnancy you need to know now and have something done. But keep in mind everything happens for a reason. Good luck and Congratulations on your new famliy and marriage.

Hey there! I was in the same situation only a few months ago. I bled after taking the pill but never got my 'period'. Almost a month later when I was expecting my period it never came. I kept taking pregnancy tests and they kept coming out negative. I set up an appointment with my doctor and a week before the appt I got my period. The plan b pill totally throws your body through a hormonal whack. I'm still not back to my normal cycle. I was for one month but this month it came 2 weeks early. So yeah. Depending on how long ago you took the pill I wouldn't panic right away.

The people I know that ended up with ectopic pregnancies all had positive pregnancy tests. They didn't know until later that it wasn't in the uterus. If you have a regular OB/GYN you should call and see if you can talk to some one over the phone (an advice nurse can ask very specific questions and let you know if you need to see the doctor now or when you should see the doctor)or make an appointment to see the doctor...there are several different tools he can use to make sure every thing is ok. Better safe than sorry and you can discuss what is best for YOU without getting preached at about how wrong the plan b pill is!
I hope everything works out for you!

I think an ectopic would be highly unlikely. My first guess is that this pill has altered your cycle. What are the potential side effects listed on the packaging? I'd call your OB asap if you haven't already. I know this isn't much help but those are my first thoughts. Hope all is okay...

Hello, I am actually a nurse that works with patients everyday that take these two pills. I have several questions for you. One, when was your last normal period? and Two, how late are you now? Plan B doesn't disrupt an already established pregnancy. It also causes spotting. We usually tell patients to come back in two weeks if a normal period has not come on after plan B for a pregnancy test. Let me know he above and I can advise you further. Good luck!

PLan B is a heavy dose of hormones. It may take your cycle a little bit to regulate, right now you're body's trying to figure out what to do! LOL Trust me, I've been regular every period of my life up until I had ovarian cysts rupture. For two months I didn't have a period because they kept changing the BCP I was on. If you haven't had a period within another 28 days and pregnancy tests keep coming back negative, please contact your OBGYN. Even an ectopic pregnancy should read on a pregnancy test, since the hormones that cause the positive are present. Good luck!

I've never taken Plan B, but I think the first thing I'd do is call the pharmacist. It's been my experience that pharmacists generally know more about meds than the doctors who prescribe them, so I'd start there. A call to your gynecologist might also be an option. Bottom line, you don't sound like anyone fully explained to you what might happen and what to expect, what's normal, etc. What are the time parameters? How long after you take the pill are you supposed to get your period? Are you usually regular? Do you have light periods? These are all questions that might make a difference, and you really need to talk to your pharmacist and your doctor to get the answers you need, I think. Good luck!
