Plan on Breastfeeding but I Am Nervous

It is my experiance that my cup size has increased but after I started to wean my daughter I dropped from a DD to a D. So there may be some relief. I don't much about this but I know your breasts grow when you get pregnant so the growth may have already happened and there is nothing you can do about that.

I can only speak for myself. Before I had my daughter I was a 36DD. After a year plus of nursing I became a barley 36 A. During the first month of nursing I became quite large. Slowly I got smaller. Except for when I became engorged. I would try it for a month or two to see what happens. Look at what your grandmothers and your mother looked like after they had their children. That will give you an idea.

Hi V., I also will be a mother a three in a little over a month. I nursed my first two until I was pregnant again usually around 15 to 18 months. My experience with nursing has been this: With the first one I was engorged for a couple weeks and things seemed to go down, but continued to get smaller as the baby weight comes off as well. With the second I didn't even have the engorgement period. Of course I was bigger, but not too much bigger than my pre pregnancy size. So for me, they do gradually decrease in size, probably once the milk supply is established and you're not having 4 "let downs" per feeding, which is within the first couple of months. I hope this is some sort of help.

I'm nursing my new daughter and I started the whole process at a Ecup. I've stayed here for the last couple months of pregnancy, to this day. They seem to get bigger as milk supply is up, but as they feed throughout the day, they fluctuate (SP?). My personal advice is make sure that your bra isn't too tight b/c then (in my case) your milk supply will lessen. One thing i know for a fact is, it doesn't matter what size your breasts are--babies are meant to breastfeed, so they'll get it soon enough--IF you are patient!

YES, it will go down. At least it did for me. It will also depend on how much or little the baby eats. I was an A cup before being pregnant. After my first was born I was at least a D cup, actually maybe more, I just didn't measure, all I could do was cry! After starting feeding I probably was a C cup. Now with my second I am between a B and C cup at times.

Remember that after you start feeding, your body and the baby will eventually develop a schedule. You will really only make enough for the baby to drink at one time and it won't be too much for a newborn.

Oh yeah, in my experience they deflate quite a bit, back to prepregnancy size. I still have extra fat around that part of my chest since having a baby but the actual breasts are now a shadow of their former selves :) My daughter is 17mos now, still bfs at night and occasionally whenever else i'm home, but sometimes I wonder how she gets anything because it just seems like there's no milk in there... without getting too graphic, you know what i mean. Breastfeeding also helps you burn a ton of fat in the first year, so it actually lowers your bra size incrementally after the first 6 months or so. Just my experience. If the girls are still huge after your next child is one or two, then you could talk to your doc about reduction surgery. but i doubt you'll have to do that. Congrats on your upcoming kiddo!!

After the first few weeks of craziness, your milk supply will settle down and adjust according to how much you nurse. So if you have a boy who eats every 2 hours, your supply will be bigger than if you have a girl who eats every 4 hours. You could try to supplement with bottles/formula and that way you could almost regulate your milk supply. With 3 little ones you may want to do that anyway, so you can get away every now and then! Once you start nursing 3-4 times a day and (hopefully) not at night, your supply will go down, which is different with every baby but could be as early as six months--or even sooner with a girl. I would also buy a really good nursing bra so you don't stretch out too much. I can tell you, that after weaning my little boy, my breasts have gone done in size compared to my pre-baby size :-( seems like none of us can get it just right! Anyway, good luck and enjoy nursing--I loved every minute of it!

Yes, it does. I got fitted for a new bra at Bosum Buddies when my son was 5 1/2 weeks and I was a 32H. He is now 13 weeks I have gone down to a size 32E. Which is the size I was when I breastfed with my first. I never got bigger than an E the first time, but this time I got a lot bigger. Once your milk supply is regulated and you feed a little more in a routine and a little less on demand, your size will go down a bit. All I can recommend is getting a really good bra. I totally recommend Bosum Buddies at Park Meadows, they are really expensive, but will somewhat save the sagging of your breasts when you are done nursing.

I would recommend that you pump and store the milk. If you are wanting to breast feed, by all means, just make sure that you receive the help and training on the proper way. As far as the size going down, my experience has been not right away, but, when I started to lose the weight massively ( because I had a thyroid gland problem) then my breast went down. No mind you I was not as large as you, but, I was walking uncomfortable. Yet, My aunt who was or is as large as you breastfed and she went down only 1 SIZE ! So, in reality i would presume it depends on the individual. Keep in touch and let me know how YOU do.

I understand how your feeling, but my problem was just the opposite. I nursed all three of my babies, and when I got done with one, my size went down to my previous size. Now that I'm done nursing completely and not going to have any more kids, my size shrank even smaller! But to answer your question, your size may go down after you start nursing, but not always. You're larger than me, so you might produce more milk all at once. Just don't pump out the extra after your baby is done drinking. It may take a while, but this will program your body to produce a certain amount and no more, due to how much your baby drinks. If your baby starts to want more, than you will have to pump. I am sorry that you are carrying K cups, it sounds like a pain in the back! It is good that you want to nurse you child, but I hope you don't go up in size anymore. I'll pray for you and your new baby.

For me after I was done nurcing my 2nd child, I was much flater and smaller. Maybe it took some time after I quit nurcing... Good luck with baby and bra! : )

When pregnant, I was a 34DD and went up to a F-G in nursing bras for the first month or two. Actually, I just wore sleeping/nursing bras because I had a hard time finding a nursing bra that was comfortable and stylish (I guess that's hard to find in such a large size). But after a few months, I was able to go to a 34DD and stayed there until my daughter was about 9 months old and then went down one more cup size (and she's been weaned for a year now and that's where I stayed). So to answer your question, no, you won't have to lug around a larger chest the entire time.

Good luck breastfeeding. I didn't breastfeed my first child (he refused) but my daughter was a breastfeeding fool and nursed for 13 months!

Wouldn't it be nice of we could share the wealth or transfer some excess fat around on the body? I had cute perky B cups when I was nursing my second child. Now they have decreased to an A minus. I look like a teenage boy. Anyway, in my experience, the boobs decreased in size both times. Even more so the second time. I guess its a good thing my hubby doesn't place much importance on them!

Wow! Yes, your cup size will go down. I went up 2 cups sizes but it only lasted for 2-3 months. Once your baby starts to eat less often and starts cereal you'll notice a difference. The benefits of nursing are tremendous over what happens to your body. It is definately worth it!
