Planning a Trip to Iowa. Thinking About Using Frontier Airlines.

I am planning on flying to Iowa next spring. Would like to purchase tickets in the next couple of months. I was looking at prices and as of now Frontier Airlines is the cheapest. I have never flown on that airline. Is it a good airline? Last year I took United to Virginia and I was not very impressed with the airline. So I am looking for the good and bad stories on this airline. I will also be traveling with my son who will be 4 1/2 by then. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I have flown Frontier a couple of times and really enjoyed it. I actually look specifically for flights by them for certain trips.

That use to be Midwest Express! LOVE them.

They serve warm chocolate chip cookies. How can you NOT love that? My flight even had a tv for $6.00. That made my trip from Phoenix to Milwaukee so much better. I watched the Grammy's!

My response is rather dated since I've only flown Frontier twice -once was EONS ago and once was about 6 years ago. I can say they were two of the best flights I've ever been on! Comfortable planes, nice service -they were great. Hopefully they still are! I would definitely choose them if I were flying somewhere they went.

I LOVE Frontier. great customer service, good prices, and TVs in every seat (you have to pay for usually, but at least it's an option!). If I have a choice, I would choose them for sure.

My husband flies Frontier exclusively when traveling back and forth to his company's office out of state.
He's never had any problems with it. Their safety record is very good.
It is his preferred airline. If we go anywhere as a family they will be the first airline we check to see if they go there. And that's not just because he has so many dang miles piled up and is now a "preferred flier" or whatever they call it LOL

My mom is a pilot for Frontier Airlines and is very honest about how they operate. She has had nothing but great things to say and I, myself, have flown them and many different airlines with Frontier being a leading contender for the best Coach seat you can find. (they don't have first class)
Many of the flight attendants are very helpful and try to make it a fun experience rather than a horrible one. I always say you are only as good as your worst employee and I don't think they have any bad ones!

One thing to keep in mind is if the airlines charges for extras, like luggage. What originally starts off as a fairly cheap flight quickly gets more expensive as many airlines charge $25 (each way) for EACH checked bag.

Southwest doesn't charge for that...... "Bags Fly Free".

I frequently fly Southwest to visit my M. and sister in Las Vegas, and haven't had any problems with them.

I love Frontier. We have our CC with them and we fly all of the time. I've even flown with them from Costa Rica. Always professional. Consistant service. I started flying with my kids around 3 months of age.

My husband and I flew Frontier last Easter with our sons 12yrs and 14 months. We bought the baby his own seat figuring we would all be more comfortable that way. Our seats were assigned, and on our connecting flight none of them were together. I let them know at the gate that I had a baby and he couldn't sit by himself and they told me there was nothing they could do about it and to figure it out when I got on the plane. Well, no one was willing to trade seats so I had to hold the baby on my lap while the seat we paid for was empty the rest of our flight. The flight attendendants never offered to help. I will never fly Frontier again.

I flew Frontier in 2009 from Omaha to Denver and back. It was my friend, myself, her daughter, and my son. The kids were 4 and 3. They assigned our seats and none of them were together. We pointed this out and they were like, Oh someone on the plane will trade. It ended up this ordeal where the flight attendant had to sort it out so we could sit by the children. I ended up in a row with both kids and my friend was WAY in the back. On the way back I didn't have any problems and we were placed by our children.

Baby items (car seat, stroller, etc) were checked for free. I had a bag that had nothing but pediasure in it. (8, 6 packs to be exact) and they counted it as a baby item and allowed it to go free.

I hear some Airlines are going to non assigned seating which I think makes sense. Boarding would be so much faster if people would just sit down somewhere like on a bus. I guess it kind of depends on where you are going as to what to fly as some air lines don't go to particular places. Despite the ordeal with the seating, overall I didn't have any problems with Frontier and would probably fly with them again. :-)

Also, glad to hear you are visiting the beautiful Mid West!!!

I know a guy who is over 6' tall and he prefers to fly on Frontier because their coach seats have the most leg room. Not that a 4 1/2 year old needs a lot of leg room, but having a bit more space between you and the seats around you is nice.
