My daughter is a huge Harry Potter fan and while I know that a Harry Potter World is coming to L.A. in 2014, we would still like to plan a trip there sometime next year. We are not set on a time or date yet, but I hear it's really hot in the summer, so we're considering going before then. Has anyone been to Universal in Orlando and visited Harry Potter World? What were your experiences? If you have any tips for our trip, I would appreciate hearing all ideas and suggestions. Thanks to all mamas, for always giving such great advice and help!

My family went to Universal the week of Halloween. My kids loved Harry Potter when they were younger and now 15 and 19 they really enjoyed Harry Potter World. It was great. We went with 4 other families and their teens and we all had a great time. We rode the ride over and over.

My son went this past April to Universal and visited Hogwarts. He LOVED it!!! He was 18 at the time and we are major Harry Potter fans. I want to go! Go offseason!

I would go offseason if you can. We kept arriving at attractions after lunch at 1 when many people were leaving for a midday break. We often parked up front and had less waits, but it was HOTTTT.

I haven't been, but some friends visited it last January and said it was AWESOME! If you can swing it then definitely go in off season like October. Summers are of course hot and humid and winter is peak season. June is the rainy season in Florida so you can also get good deals and in my experience it did rain every day but only for a little bit and it wasn't too terribly hot yet. Have fun, it looks super cool!

Don't go there in summers. Your kid can't bear the heat. Just plan to go in between November and December. I would say Mid November is best. Happy vacations.

We went in June and despite it being AWESOME - I will never go again anywhere near summer. The heat was unbearable. It was me, my husband and my at the time 17 month old daughter. She was a trooper, but we had to keep going indoors to bring our body temps down and drink tons of water. The HP part of the park itself is small but there is plenty to do in Universal including a cool Seuss land.

We went in May, and had a great time. The rest of Universal Orlando was nice, and we had fun, but The Wizarding World of Harry Potter was our favorite part of the park. It's small, with only three rides, but it does look and feel as if you're actually at Hogwarts. There were some great shows, too. We'll definitely be going to LA after their park opens.
