I was wondering if all plastic toys for babies are safe since it is understood that they will take it in their mouth or do I have to check each toy and what exactly should I look out for?
Thanks

I think that the toys that are labeled appropriate for their age are just fine. My son played with all of them, sucked on all of them and is still living. We have much worse things that are commonly given or done to our children than plastic toys. Happy Christmas shopping :D
I didn't give my baby any plastic, just to be safe. I purchased wood and cloth teethers and toys from Germany where they have a higher safety standard. Not sure where you are located, but Acorn Store in Santa Monica have many to choose from... otherwise, there are lots of great online stores.
I think the "new thing"is to be BPA safe with plastic stuff. But most toys made by reputable US companies are safe. It's the toys that are made in foreign countries from smaller companies that don't follow the same regulations that are in question. But don't stress about it. Like the previous poster said, there are way worse things to worry about. Your child has probably already been exposed to BPA in the environment since there are millions of these toys and plastic wares in the world. Just give your child a toy that age appropriate that he/she will enjoy or that you will enjoy playing with them.
