My family just moved to Algonquin from Palatine and I am looking to start or get involved in a local playgroup in this area. In a previous playgroup, we've met at parks or participated in local activities together. The moms also had lots of fun going out for dinner & drinks once a month without kids or husbands. There are some great local mom meetup groups in the area if you check out meetup.com. Just search for one in your area and you should find several. Some are in Crystal Lake, Lake In the Hills, Algonquin, etc. There is also a group called Cary M.'s Group I believe which is also a great group. Welcome to the neighborhood! :)
There is also another Mom's group on Meetup.com for Crystal Lake, there are alot of Algonquin Moms in that group too. I think there is also a Mchenry and Cary group on there as well.

I am part of a great moms group in the area called Mom-2-Mom. We offer playgroups for all ages, a babysitting co-op as well as monthly planned kids activities and parties. Each month we have mom only events like bunco, book club, scrapbooking and mom's night out. Not to forget dads we have poker night and couple's night out. there are a lot of members from mothers and more located in Algonquin- I highly recommend them. Also, I livein cary- and there are some newcomers groups in towns- i just joined mine- Ilived in cary over 8 years and now just joined but it really helps you feel a part of the community and offers many groups.
oh yeah and if your looking for a ped I highly recommend Pediatric Associates of Barrington located in crystal lake- ###-###-####. My children see Dr. Kaufman but they are all wonderful providers!
