I know someone who has a dog who is in serious NEED of a vet. The problem...she does not have the money to take the dog there and to pay for any meds needed. I saw this dog today and it broke my heart. The dog (Chyna) is a 7yr. old Shi Tsu and is itching/biting so bad on it's lower back (near the tail area) that it is raw. She said she has already treated the dog for fleas but it is not fleas. I think it is some sort of nerves or something - the dog also has allergies. I know vets can be expensive and her financial situation has changed so she cannot afford to take this dog anywhere right now. :( I saw the dog today and really wished I had the money to take it even though it is not my dog. Is there anyone who is a vet out there that is willing to help? Please....this is horrible...the dog is suffering :( I feel so bad. If you or anyone you know would be willing to see this dog and help out, PLEASE let me know. Thank you so much in advance for any help you can provide.

If you are in the Conroe area, there is the "Mobile Vet". They are usually set up through out the area during the week and weekends and they don't charge anything to examine the animals. I would think they would be able to tell you whether or not some of the OTC products suggested are what you need. Also, the Montgomery County animal shelter has low-cost vet services.
Good luck

I'd try giving the dog 1/3 of benadryl if it's allergies. I've done that for my dog in the past and it seemed to help. We take our dogs to Pet CHeckup off of Jones by 1960. Their prices are very reasonable and they give good care.

Hi, I had a vet in the family so I know a suggestion that does not cost much. You can try over the counter Chlortrimaton. You can buy it at places like Walgreens and just start out with 1 pill every day for 3 weeks, if the rash starts to get better, give 1/2 pill every day till the dog is better. it almost always works for any type of hair loss problem and it's perfectly safe and cheap. It's human medicine so if they do not sell it find something similar in the same dose like bendryl.

I think that you contact several vets, let them know the problem, find one that will see the dog at a good price and have people chip in, sending their money to the vet. When you have the money raised, she can take the dog in.

I'll be happy to put in $10. I will send this information out to some friends and see if we can get enough to cover the expenses.

One of my dogs kobi does the same thing, will bite and scratch till he is bleeding, I will hear him scratching all the time. Bathing him with soothing oatmeal shampoo helps, people's hydrocortizone cream helps the most and he actually comes to me when he sees me take it out, I put some on him regualr. He does have flea allegies.

I know there are low-cost vet clinics out there. If I remember correctly, Neuter Corp, Spay & Neuter Assistant Program "SNAP", Pet Vet may offer discount services. Maybe if she made a phone call to some of the adoption shelters, they could give some suggestions. My dog is on an oral antihistamine that helps him tremendously, along with the topical solutions.

Vet mobiles come thru neighborhoods at least once a year. I would get online and see when one is coming thru your area. It might be mange its hard to tell with animals but the mange depending on which kind starts by the tail area. Good luck if you need any of our help coming up with money let us know.
