I know it's awful. Is the litter box in a different area or is she not feeling well? Or this will happen again or somewhere else.
*For Me* I just toss something like that. All the magic cleaners to not get into the depth of the mattress.
My cat peed on my bed!!! :( She's never done that before. I've had her for 6 years. She is 10 now. It happened early evening yesterday. I removed the sheet & blanket, soaked up as much as I could off the mattress... soaked a dish rag with dawn dish soap, scrubbed the hell out of it, sprayed it with febreeze............ AND it still smells!! :( :( I just took my other sheet off ....... I don't know what to do. It's so disgusting.
Took kitty to the vet and she had a UTI! She's been on antibiotics for a few days now.

nothing. that smell will never truly go away. If it were mine, I would toss it and buy another. (and take the cat to the vet) Sorry!
Zero Odor - you can buy it at Bed, Bath & Beyond or Amazon. AMAZING stuff! Works on everything. I was skeptical at first, but it got cigarette smoke out of a thick mattress. Honestly, I will never use Febreze again.
I have used Nature's Miracle to get odors out of mattresses.
Although many people spray it on, I just pour it out of the bottle on the mattress because it needs to soak all the way through. Then I let it dry all day (or maybe two). You wash everything else separately, of course. It's worth a try.
If it doesn't work at all, you need a new mattress. If it works somewhat, you might not have hit all the places with the Nature's Miracle. If you can find or borrow a black light, that will help you see where you need to apply the stuff.
I hope you will also get your kitty a checkup - she might have an infection.
There's this stuff called Nature's Miracle. It's enzyme based and helps break down the urine. It also helps the cat from going there again as they like to do. You can get it at the pet store. Drench it really good and put a fan on it if you can. The repeat until you no longer smell it. This is about as good as you will get in removing the stain. If you think the cat might go there again, you might have to resort to putting down one of those pads or sheets that's water proof, just in case.
Hope this helps.
Try Nature's Miracle. There are also other products in the pet store that can help, if you get it out right away, and you need something that breaks down the enzymes, like Nature's Miracle. Dish soap just isn't going to cut it. I have 2 cats that have had "issues" with peeing where they shouldn't go. They either have a UTI or some kind of medical problem, or their nose is out of joint for some reason, either territorial or they don't like the litter box, or jealousy. The crappy part, is that if you don't get rid of the smell completely, kitty will continue to go in there. My one cat is now on prozac to keep her from getting upset and taking it out on my rugs and furniture. Good luck.
Nature's miracle works wonders. I have dumped it on. Mattress before and buy it by the gallon. Also you might want to have her vet checked if you haven't already to make sure no problems
Nature's Miracle. Get it at the pet store!
That happened to me too. My cat had a raging bladder infection and we had no idea. So you should probably have her checked out. Cats that pee on beds usually are trying to tell you something.
I used some Tide diluted in bucket of water, and sort of soaked and scrubbed at the spot. Then I dried it with a fan for a couple days. Then when it was dry I flipped the mattress.
i've used nature's miracle successfully too, but on carpet not a mattress, but it's worth a try. It needs time to soak and break down the urine. After that I would see if you can use a carpet cleaning machine that can wash and extract the mattress.
From now on, I would put a plastic cover over the mattress. That helps with a lot of things including allergies. Also if any smell is left, it might prevent it from smelling up the room.
natures miracle is by far the best.... i understand how frustrating it can be but in all honesty my main concern is the 10 year old cat who has never done this before? i would take her to the vet before it happens again and again and make sure she is ok 10 is an age when cats tend to get uti's and bladder infections. shes an older cat and i pray all is ok with her and its just a fluke! no point in cleaning the mess if its possible it may happen again! tend to the cat then your mattress... just my opinion! and good luck! give kitty a pet from me lol
Regardless of what you use, I suggest a couple of things: Consider starting to feed her a low-magnesium cat food like "Purina One Urinary Tract Health" (which you can buy at the regular store) or Royal Canin SO (you'll have to get that one from your vet).
She getting to an age where she can no longer have foods high in magnesium because it will cause her body to create struvite crystals in her bladder and back her up. They are VERY painful and will land her in the vet's office with a catheter if you don't prevent them now.
Also, NO fish based foods. Stick with chicken only. That means treats and wet food too.
Make sure she has plenty of fresh water at all times.
And finally, make sure her box stays SUPER clean. My kitty (who is also 10 years old), will pee outside of his box for only three reasons: Bladder infection or crystal is blocking things up, causing pain; the door to the basement is closed and he can't get there; or it needs to be cleaned.
Best of luck and I hope that helps.
try a mixture of 3 parts water to 1 part Isopropyl Alcohol and a dash of dish soap. mix in a spray bottle and spray and let it sit for about 30 seconds, than soak up all you can, and repeat a few times. This worked great for my carpets when training my dogs, but cat pee tend to be stronger! good luck.
My cat started peeing on the bed after developing a urinary tract infection that required antibiotics. He was back to his old self after being treated. I was lucky that the cat only peed a little and it was only on the top of the blanket. It didn't soak through to the mattress so I was able to toss them in the wash.
Whenever a cat starts peeing in places other than their usual place there is something wrong. Either the box is filthy and needs a good scrubbing or the cat is sick and needs help.
Peeing on the bed is a red flag to let you know something is amiss. Check his paws. He could have an abscess that requires medical attention. Cats that have a problem with a paw will avoid the litter box as it irritates the delicate exposed skin, preferring instead to pee on softer things, like bedding. =/
Well, think LOGICALLY. She pee'd, it puddled and soaked in. Now YOU need to do that same thing with a chemical to counter act.
I'd pour your favorite disinfecting cleaner on it too, a cat bladder full, let is soak in and do it's work.
We have had cats pee plenty of times. Nature's Miracle is what will make the smell go away completely but it takes time for the enzymes to work. You can use vinegar as an emergency treatment (which also helps discourage repeat performances by the cat) and then treat with Nature's Miracle, let it dry on the spot and stay forever.
Nature's Miracle or Anti-Icky Poo or any other enzyme pet product. If it's in the mattress, you will have to pour probably 1/4 of the bottle on the spot, because you need to completely drench the area, and let it dry on its own.
It completely works. If for some reason one treatment doesn't work, repeat.
Most of the odor will be gone after one treatment, if not all.
The person who said it didn't work probably didn't put enough on. I've had a cat pee on the mattress and it completely removed the odor. Like I and others said, you have to drench it.
Nature's Miracle works wonders.
Once you get the smell out go and get a waterproof mattress pad. If she pees on the bed again all you need to do is wash the mattress pad in detergent and bleach, add vinegar to the rinse water for an extra measure to get the smell out.
Hydrogen peroxide, dawn soap, and baking soda. Mix it up in a big bowl, and don't skimp - you'll need a fair bit to do the trick.
This is a cheaper and more effective method than anything else I've tried. The H2O2 kills any bacteria, the soap loosens up the lipids, and the baking soda neutralizes the smell.
Cat urine is so extraordinarily stinky though, that it may stick forever. I had a cat ruin the carpet in my kid's room. I've soaked it in different products, in the solution I described above, and have tried steam cleaning it a few times...and I can still smell it. When we have the money, I'm going to have to rip it all up and replace it. Such a mess.
Good luck!
Odo Ban from Walmart or Sams Club. I've tried Nature's Miracle and it didn't work for me. Odo Ban is much cheaper and works bettter in my opinion!
Vinegar. Nature's Miracle has never worked for me b/c my pets would always go back to the same place to pee when I used it. Using vinegar, they don't. Plus it is a man made chemical. I use vinegar for any and all pet smells and it eradicates it, doesn't just cover it up.
Awesome. It is a liquid product found at Dollar Tree for $1. It comes concentrated and I just use it that way. It even gets out the smell of cat pee that has been in something for a while. Our cat peed on our bed and I poured it on the bed and sucked it out with a bissel and I was even able to sleep on it that night! I then poured it on our sheets and bedspread and it got out the stain and the smell. I just poured it on and washed it in prewash and then washed as normal. Good Luck!
Try either 50/50 water and vinegar or 75 water/25 vinegar and really soak the area. Don't mop it up, let it air dry. Yes, this means you need to sleep some place else for the mean time cause it can take a week to by dry enough for you to sleep on. Yes, it will smell horrid as it dries but it will get better and no it won't smell like vinegar afterwards either.
In the mean time, take kitty to the vet for a UTI check unless you know why she peed on the bed-mad at you, dirty box, etc. And I say all this based on experience with my 12yr old cat who has FLUTD and hyperthyroidism-canned food diet (Friskies special diet is perfect) or a high quality/high protein canned food like Evo. My cat would rather eat the junk food cat food (Friskies) over the good stuff :( Try not to give her too much of the fish kind as it might be linked to cause issues in cats with the lining in the can (BPAs). Keep dry food available though too in either a low Mag (Purina one makes one). The water here in FL is odd sometimes so I give my cat filtered water instead of straight from the tap.
Sorry if this is more info than you were wanting but I've been doing a lot of internet searching trying to help my cat here the past few years!!

I use Resolve Deep Clean powder. Put some on the spot, rub in with a toothbrush & let sit for an hour or so then vacuum. Voila sweet smelling bed. Good luck
Go to a pet supply store and get a bottle of Simple Solution. You can use it on carpet, furniture, and laundry. Follow the instructions for laundering your bedding with it. You may have to do it more than once, but it will work.
I recently found a product at Pet Smart called Simple Solution Extreme (for cat urine, they also make one for dogs). I had to use it in one of my rentals after removing the carpet, cleaning the sub floor and painting primer on the sub floor as well. I still had the faint odor of cat urine and this product was the best in getting rid of the smell.
